I visited my parents over the weekend and remembered I wanted to get a few pictures of the racks we had. I had planned on getting much better pics than these, my mom had the camera and she said they were turning out good. You really can't appreciate any tine length though, for the most part. I'll get better pics next time.

Here are the 4 biggest ones layed out in the garage. The two in front are nice ones, the other two are decent. The second one from the front has a great right side, but his left side is a little broken and stunted. Anyway it should be enough to get us pumped for elk season. Good luck in the draw fellas!

You really can't appreciate tine length here, and the whale tail looks small. You can't tell from this picture, but this bull would really be a good one if his left side matched his right.

For a little scale here is a pic of my sister's bull from last year. It is the third from the front in the first picture. See how much bigger the two in front are? Not huge bulls mind you, but they are good ones;)

What is the success rate for bowhunters in AZ. I am impressed and have been thinking about AZ or UT for a elk hunt. I sure don't mind rifle hunting but bowhuntng is more my thing.

The numbers aren't out from last year yet, I quickly searched for results from 2 years ago but didn't find them. Archery elk success depends on how good of a spot you have and how good an hunter you are. Fortunately AZ hold a lot of elk and the archery hunts are during the rut so they are usually pretty vocal. For a good hunter who has a good spot success rate is pretty high. Since they are so much easier to find during the rut, most people can get on bulls. It is HARD to get drawn though, it takes a lot of folks 10-20 years to get an archery bull tag. But they are sweet hunts, there's just nothing like rutting bulls.

Rifle seasons are easier to get drawn for, typically 5-10 year wait but without a good spot it's a much harder hunt. At least to find them. But again, AZ holds a good elk herd, if you look for them they are there. AZ is mostly public land, so you generally have a lot of area to try and find one in.

It's easy to draw an archery antlerless tag, but most folks aren't into that after spending all the time and money to get out here.

I don't think Colorado's best bull could compete with some of the beasts that AZ produces, but my only solace is that you can hunt and kill a bull here, every year without waiting to be drawn.

I have to agree with you CoRoMo. My buddies son, is a biologist for the Arizona Game and Fish, some of the pics he has of bulls would scare you! We don't have anything like those down there. Course, getting a license to hunt on the reservation is another highly suspect ordeal, his son has applied for the last 6 years........ "0" so far!

Nice racks Wanker, keep us posted!

I wish i could find out if i got my first choice tag. I probably wont as i dont have enough bonus points to realistically draw it. If i do somehow get the tag i got a good feeling about a MONSTER bull. Ive seen the same one several times and know there are bunches more in that area.
