Lightening and brightening my load.

Was carrying Gerber FAST which comes in at about 4 ounces. Great knife that has served me well. It is now relegated to carry while doing yard work and it lives in the Maxpedition ZA Bug Out Bag.

Thanks to input of some Forum folks I'm trying out a Spyderco Native. About 2 ounces.

My most carried light is a 4Sevens Stainless Preon ReVo. It's a single AAA on my keychain. Secondly a Preon II 2XAAA stylus style.

I get a newslettter from 4Sevens (not a good thing ;) and they did a limited run of Preon II S2 hight output LEDs, ANSI OTF of 120 lumens and were running out and the price was right.

The Seecamp LWS .380 remains my most carried day to day pocket piece.

That's interesting. Personally I prefer heavier gear. I guess I don't get the whole lightweight thing.

I carry a ZT 0200, a SureFire 6P Defender with Malkoff M61 drop-in, and a full size S&W M&P-357. Very comforting.

I carry a USP 45 Tactical w/ UTL light, a Fenix TA30, and an Extrema Ratio Nemesis, so I'm firmly in the heavier-gear category.

Also, I have a jacket where I keep an East German Makarov, a Blackhawk Gladius AA light, and a Spyderco Endura 4.

I had an Eotac pocket organizer with a Kel-Tec PF-9, a Streamlight Stylus and a SOG Flash I, but I sold the PF-9. Probably going to replace it with a Walther PPS .40 eventually.

I don't often carry all of that at once, but I have in the past, and I could if I wanted.

I certainly have moderate and heavy weight gear. I can ratchet up a couple levels from the above. I'll stay with pocket carry for levels one and two.
This covers 80% of my time, business casual dress meeting with clients and not necessarily weekend travels. I'm headed for the grocery store and dinner. This will likely cover my threat levels.
This doesn't even take into account the other daily items, smart phone, wallet, car keys, reading glasses, sun glasses... and you wonder why I try and keep it light?

Light
Seecamp .380 13 ounces
Spyderco Native 2.5 ounces
Swiss Tech Multi Tool XL900 9in1 solid stainless plier screw driver LED light 1oz
4Sevens Preon II 120 lumens .8 ounces or a multitude of other light LED lights
About one pound, then you add all the rest of the crap you carry around in a pocket at any given time plus the strong side pocket needs to have carry gun only. That's why I like light.

Medium
Kahr PM9 or S&W M&P 340
Gerber clutch multi
Back to the heavier Gerber I may have a void here I need to address. ;)
I do have a 7 ounce Kershaw folder with a pocket clip that is quite a beast
I have a couple Fenix or 4 Sevens lights that would work here

Heavy
S&W M&P .40compact with light and laser
IWB or OWB or a man bag
Maxpedition Bag
Wilderness Instructor Belt
Gerber Belt knife
Any number of multi tools.
Fenix G5 350 lumens.

Otherwise, I like light and carry gear for the circumstances.

How are you liking the Native?

So far so good. I have only carried it three days and cut an article out of the WSJ. ;)
I like the light weight. :D

The clip is very "aggressive". I'm hoping it is not going to destroy/fray my pocket edges.

very cool just did a google search they are smaller than the lcp/keltec size autos's! very cool. I like light and comfortable also.

Lobo,

It is more true that the Seecamp is shorter than the KT. The P32 is thinner and lighter. Personally, I find firearm thickness more important for concealability than length and height.

Thats your only EDC carry rig? All the time, anywhere this is what you carry? beach, weddings, dinner at friends house?

I can't always carry a firearm because of my workplace (nuclear power plant, can't even have a gun in my vehicle), but the Spyderco Native has been my everywhere knife for five years and its design, size, and weight are just about perfect for me. I'm not aware I have it on me until I need it.

I also don't get when people carry 6 lb of gear (not counting phone keys wallet etc etc) "all the time," how they could possibly do certain activities...like those that require wearing gym shorts, swimsuits, two or three piece suits...do they just not do these activities or do they do them in some altered fashion to allow for super heavy gear?

I personally carry a Keltec P11 IWB with a belt clip, some spyderco folder (been experimenting with a native myself lately, love the edge retention of the CPMS30V), a small fixed blade a la Southnarc FGEU OWB where possible, and sometimes a Comtech Stinger. The gun and a folder are always with me, and when I'm not wearing a belt I don't sweat the absence of the fixed blade...the Stinger is light and easy to carry too.

I have a J frame knockoff Taurus that is suitable for formal wear with a tuckable IWB.

Total weight is probably 1.6 lb or so...

Spyderco Native

How are you liking the Native?

The more I carry it the more I like it. It is about half the weight of my previous carry and almost identical in size.

It is truly something that you forget is in or on the pocket. Great call on that recommendation and pick.

As Landlocked Pirate says:

the Spyderco Native has been my everywhere knife for five years and its design, size, and weight are just about perfect for me. I'm not aware I have it on me until I need it.

Yeah, I think I have now carried a Native more than all my other folders combined. Which is saying something. Glad it's working well for you. :)
