Yesterday I had the time to run out to Mac's Gunworks and shoot his new creation.
This one is extreme, even for me:D
Put 25 rounds through it, from the prone position, with my typical one hand hold.
Lawton action, McRee stock, McGowen barrel, Lawton picatinny rail, Mac brake, Cerakote camo, Vortex Razor HD 5-20 Scope, Vortex Rings. All the work was done by Chuck McIntosh. The cartridge is one of Dave Viers. Take a 408 Chey-Tac and partially neck it down to .375 and make a false shoulder, fireform it and you have a 375 Snipe-Tac. Jamison brass, 150 grains of H-50BMG, and a 370 grain Rocky Mountain bullet. What a cool combination.

XP: You are bringing some very interesting firearms "into" THR :) I like it quite a bit.

What range(s) are you hoping to achieve?

Nice looking setup...as always!

Take care,

That appears to be just a rifle with no stock. I don't consider anything to be a handgun that you can't fire with one hand.

With that being said, it looks super cool.

I only had one hand on it when I was shooting it... :)
The other hand was running the rear bag below the grip.

Recoil with a gun like that is no problem if you shoot from a good position and just let the gun move.

I had an Unlimited silhouette gun once chambered for .308. It weighed less than 4 1/2 lbs.
My load for the 200 meter ram was a 190 gr bullet at 2335 fps out of the 14" barrel. The recoil looked scary, but it was fine. Lots of fun to shoot that gun!

john,
True.
The challenge is with a 20x scope is to see enough FOV to make the shot and not get hit in the progress:D

150 grains of powder and a 370 grain bullet?

Good Lord, I wouldn't want to try to do anything with that off my shoulder.

Must look more like a flame thrower when fired. Way to big a case for a legal pistol with a 15.50" barrel. Still a very nice look'n money pit anyhow.

Ya if its under 26' then its a handgun, over its a rifle that someone forgot to put the rest of the stock on. hehe Just never got these looong barreled big cartridge pistols. 15" moa is big enough. Not practical to hunt with out there stock attached. And I would truely hate to shoot so close to the scope. Niice work though.

I'll second that ... cool gun (I like the color scheme) but it really does look and function like a rifle ... with no stock. o_O FFS! It's a bolt action!

Its pretty nifty but I don't see the point in making it a "pistol" instead of a rifle. Yeah you can shoot it one handed but that doesn't mean much if u need a bipod. For me, the entire purpose of a pistol is to be easier to carry than a rifle, and the point of a rifle is to be easier to shoot than a pistol. This neatly defeats both of those goals.

I want that, but with a stock and and a real thick recoil pad.

Whats the velocity at the muzzle for the round ?

Do you know how many shots he gets before its gets to much throat erosion and effect accuracy ?

The other thing is it might be over kill for the amount of powder, in a short barrel like that you may not get a total powder burn.

Haven't chronoed it yet.
Also, plan to use Retumbo some as well.
Not sure of the typical throat life.
Some of that depends on back to back shooting.
Wasn't looking for efficiency as you can tell:D

See guys the 500S&W doesn't have anything on the old snipe-tac. As for efficient, that's not what we were after. As for fun, now that's where it's at, and we all agree with that.
