I've looked high and low, can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I prefer the black synthetic forends because they have more room towards the receiver. The wood forends I've seen all have a little bit of a gap

The size I want

The size I don't want, but I want this type of color/finish

Does anyone know of a stock of the top form factor, but in a wood/laminate finish? When I shoulder an 870, my support hand always grabs the "front" of the forend. Works great with the synthetic ones like above, but the wooden ones on bottom..not so much

What about something like this?

I think basically you need the type of wood stock set the put on Wingmasters or the more hunting-oriented 870s. The "tactical" 870s are going to have the shorter forends, as they allow for a sidesaddle to be mounted on the receiver. I personally don't care for sidesaddles and, being shorter and therefore with shorter arms, I also prefer the longer forestocks that overlap the receiver.

The wood foreend you show is sometimes call a police forend because the length allows it to fit some of the shotgun racks in police vehicles and for sidesaddles, as mentioned.

I have an older Wingmaster with that "corn cob" style forend, but it is longer, referred to as sporting length.

Also in sporting length, checkered style stocks can be found in:
--high gloss walnut (Wingmaster)
--wood laminate (current Express)
--solid birch (older Express) -- which may suit what you need

If you'd like to see examples, search for "870 stock" in gunbroker and ebay.

The syntethic style you show, is not available in wood.

Go to remingtons website; shotgun parts; closeouts. You should be able to get a wood stock to your door for 40 bucks.
