Just bought this nice old 39a. It came with this optic rail that the previous owner attached. Im looking for somthing in a little peep sight or ghoust ring. Any suggestions? Heres a pic

Just looking for a little something to improve the rear sight picture a bit really. Dont really want like a red dot or scope. Ive seen the peep sight made for marlis but im looking for somthing rail mounted.

A good peep is made by Skinner. I have two, one on a 39m and one on a Marlin 1894c

But these mount in holes that are in the top of the receiver not on a rail.

Williams makes a peep that mounts to a standard rim fire dovetail. I don't know what size your rail is. It looks bigger?

Tech sights also make a dovetail peep, but I'm not happy with the one I have.

All in all the Skinner is the best. YMMV

Wow yes!!! I really like those and given they dont make them for rail mount then I guess thats the path ill be goin down.

I could be wrong but I thought that Marlin lever rifles have the top of the receiver already drilled and tapped. Remove that mount and you should be able to put whatever type sight you want on it.

The threads on the holes up top are a little questionable Its an old rifle and I think the last owner re tapped them to put this scope mount on and that is why I wanted a rail mounted peep sight. Sorry I should have explained that eariler. And the rail is smaller than a normal scope mount as I cannot use my other optics on this rifle.

Just ordered the peep sight from skinner! They look great but Im a little worried that the front sight wont line up as it is an older model marlin 39. Hey furn cliff are any of your marlins older and did you have any trouble with your front sight working well with the rear skinner peep?
