Hi all:

I have a Russian target pistol (IZH-35m) that was imported by EAA. It needs to go back to EAA for repairs. Can I just ship this straight to them, or do I need to get an FFL involved?

Thanks!

You can ship it yourself through UPS or FedEx and it can be returned directly to your door. UPS/FedEx require Nect Day/Overnight service.

A dealer can mail it USPS for MUCH less...usually less than half of UPS/FedEx.

My understanding is that a gun may be sent to the manufacturer or importer for repair with no problem (since they have to have an FFL to be in business), and may be returned to you directly by them. Unfortunately UPS requires that handguns be shipped next day mail because of light fingered employees. I don't know about Fedex. I've found that some of the "handy" shipping outlets will not accept firearms of any kind too.
