The act of ditching your CC piece in a car.

for the open top jeep might I suggest a vault under the seat or perhaps a simple cable run it up through the frame and slide and pad lock. Then loop the cable around the frame of the seat.
Easily defeated but it will take time and tools and it would look obvious they were steeling something.

I use only paddle holsters. with practice it is a fluid movement on and off. Both trucks got a homemade secret compartment.

"The act of ditching your CC piece in a car"
From the thread title I thought this was to be a tutorial on how to get rid of a hand gun in a random parked automobile.

I second the comment; "relax" ...... No one is watching you. Your 'piece' is probably unseen by anyone but you, as it should be.
I don't 'ditch my CC piece' anywhere. However, I do remove my hand gun and place it beside me when I get in my car. I'll lock it in a box if I have to leave it there.
.

Do the transfer out of your CCW holster a block or two away from your final destination.

The passenger's seat has a pocket on the back. A couple of coloring books and other kid swag on top of the gun completes the camouflage.
This is not safe.

When driving your hands should be occupied with the steering wheel and the other controls of the car, not with other objects.

When handling a gun your attention should be on safe gun handling, not on driving a car.

Moving the gun while driving is a fail from both standpoints.

pull into parking area. look around. wait for people to pass by [if needed] and do the switch when it's clear. that's what i do.

I will say this transfer is much quicker and easily done in my tundra with the gun going into the void left behind the bench seat armrest than it is in the wife's Xb.

And laugh it up all you want but this simple act is no joke at all to perform in an open top Jeep w no doors. Which also introduces the factor of no security whatsoever. (I'm still working on this)

It's pretty easy in my Explorer but your Jeep would take a little more effort to be inconspicuous. I simply open the safe from seated position and unholster my G26 and place it in the safe's holster. I am right handed and the gun never comes up high enough for anyone to see unless they are standing at the door looking in. Put it in something that is at least a reasonable deterrence to someone that wants to break in. I think Tuffy makes some Jeep specific storage boxes for under the seat.

It's perfectly safe.
Where did he say he was driving while he did this.:scrutiny:
Pull over, remove gun, store gun in a secure manner, drive away.

I get out of the truck pull it out of my pocket and drop it in the door pocket then I lock and shut the door and walk off. The gun is in the open for less than half a second and only viewable from a limited area. Then there is the fact that I don't really care if someone see's me. I do this everyday in my workplace parking lot, also in the Post Office parking lot. That's about the only places I disarm.

Technically in my retarded State, you are not allowed to touch it in the car.
I've never heard of that rule before.
If your referring to our motor vehicle restrictions, those have been lifted. SB17 passed a few months back and can now be used.

Indeed just take a quick survey of your surroundings and use common sense. It has worked for me now for seven CCW years. No reason to make a 'mountain out of a molehill' so to speak.

-Cheers

Deep South - watch out for letting anyone find out you have a gun in your car in any Post Office parking lot.

39 CFR 232.1(l)

“applies to anyone coming into a Post Office or a Postal facility. The regulation prohibiting the possession of firearms or other weapons applies to all real property under the charge and control of the Postal Service. . . . Both open and concealed possession are prohibited, so storage of a weapon on a car parked in a lot that is under the charge and control of the Postal Service would be prohibited.”

Like Eric F said. Or if a vest can be worn carry in inside vest pocket the take the vest off right after getting out of the truck.

I'm not wearing a "shoot me first" vest.

Besides I carry a full sized or near full sized pistol . In a crossbreed style iwb rig

No the vest I wear a Mustang leather vest that I have worn since too young to carry. Nothing about it would make someone think I was armed. Mostly it looks like something you would see the Patriot Guard wear.Leather and memorial run patches.

If someone is looking into your windows to see what you're doing inside your car, then there are larger issues, like what the hell are they doing looking through the windows of YOUR CAR?
Calm down, don't worry so much. Be nonchalant. Don't do anything illegal, be kind and courteous, but remember, if you're within the law, they have no business butting into your business.

Keep a fast food paper bag handy. Pull gun from holster or pocket and drop into the bag. Stash the bag (and hidden gun) wherever you need to.

Then take a leisurely sip from the straw of your accompanying empty drink cup as you casually scan around the parking area. Maybe wipe your mouth with a napkin.

A man finishing off a traveler's meal...nothing to see here.
