It's changed over the years but here it is.

I would love a full-sized ad of the Iver Johnson hammerless ad.

Prices have gone up a bit. My first shotgun - a 12 ga pump, used, in good condition, cost my dad $25. I remember Mosin-Nagants advertised for $14.88. A new 30-30 lever action was about 75-80 dollars. I also remember 30 cent a gallon gas and a decent lunch for under a dollar. I carried a shotgun into high school to put on a safe gun handling demo...no problem. Today they call a swat team for a kindergarden kid with a butterknife in his lunch box

Bought my first 870 Wingmaster at a Walgreens drug store for $89.

I don't go by "Gun Geezer" for no reason.

I can remember those prices. I can remember a Browning Hi Power going for $110.
I was buying .22 long rifle ammo at Sears for 50 cents a box of fifty. Bought a Winchester 94 from a local dept store for $69.95.

First Ruger standard auto, $37.50, Blackhawk $67.50, Super Blackhawk $96. Original Second Gen SAA $125, Python $125, New Frontier $140, Gold Cup $150. Smith M&P 87 bucks....these are from when I was in high school. Model 12 was about $125 and a Superposed Browning was $325.

I bought surplus rolling blocks, Springfields, Enfields and so on and never paid over $20 each..had about fifty when I went to college. Sold all of them for tuition and made a minimum of 200%....If I'd hung on to them I'd be getting 1000%-2000%.

Remember the guns of the time, having a gun that wouldn't go off when dropped was a selling point. I love the second add, reminds you that this country wasn't always seemingly paranoid about gun ownership.

I've got some from 1898 for various Winchester products at a Hardware Store in Tennessee. Found them in scanned records I was QCing...I can post them when I get home

These do make me sad. Boy, I wish it was still like the '50s when you could buy an anti- tank rifle without months of paperwork, licenses, background checks, liberal laws/ freekouts, and not to mention only for $98.50. And shooting/gun ownership was NORMAL! nowadays if people even find out you have a .22 pistol they tend to get wide-eyed and scared. I may have only been on this planet since the mid 90's but I know that things weren't always as screwed up as they are now....
