30mm scope in a 1" scope mount?

I ordered a viper pst 1-4x24 for my Ar and I believe its a 30mm mount. Would a 1" mount work or not. Newbie question I know, but I need ya'lls help.

So it would work....it would just have a slight space.

Reason I'm asking is I got this mount paid for but its out of stock with no eta. They have the 1" mount though and if it'll work I'll just go with that. Any reason I should not do this?

Wishful thinking.....I'll take that as a no go then
