What are you opinions on Norinco 1911's I have heard they are tough as nails and reliable, thinking about trading out a Browning Buckmark I have for one.

I had one, traded it, wish I had it back. They are excellent quality guns. I don't know what a new Buckmark goes for, but Norincos in this area are in the $500 and up category.

I have one that a friend sold me for a song back in 1994 NIB. It's been so reliable I can't bear to part with it. There's all sorts of tales about how they were made out of old railroad steel in China but I couldn't tell ya if that is fact. It is one of the most used platforms for customizing by gunsmiths (or was).

I have one and have not had any issues with it. They have a reputation for being well made even though the internals are rather crudely finished.

So we're all on the same page awesome! thanks for reinforcing it in my mind
I love when a good plan works out

A new norinco 1911 vs a new Armscor 1911, i get the Norinco first. But the new Philippine imports are pretty tight slide and frame fit. They have improved significantly though considering the modern manufacturing there is. But the Norinco has the edge on metal quality.

New to the forum here,

I have a Norinco 1911A1 that I bought new in 1992. I wanted a GI style 1911 and it's what I could afford back then. The only other reasonably priced forged GI 1911 was the Colt 1991 and I just couldn't pay the difference. While I can afford one of the higher priced newer 1911s now, my Norinco has been incredibly reliable since day one and is more accurate that I am with a handgun that I don't see a reason to "upgrade." I like it and it works.
