I have 150$ to spend on a good pair of binos, I did some research and like Yosemites. I like the size and how compact they are. The also have some pretty good specs for the price. ANY THOUGHTS OR IDEAS?

They will mainly be used for hunting and observing.

Thanks for any answers.

Depends on your definition of "hunting and observing".

I have used a pair of semi-cheapie Pentax for local deer hunting for years. Worked well enough for corn field stuff in Indiana. Went to Montana on a pronghorn-prairie dog hunt. They were crap for that situation. I just got some Leupold Mojave-3 10x50's for my next trip. These are currently Leupold's best.

Observing may mean looking out the front window or bird watching for hours and days on end. Could be a hunt in Colorado or Alaska where you use the binos for hours and hours.

The longer you use them in a stretch, the better they need to be. Cheapies will strain your eyes and have inadequate resolution for long term use IMO.

FWIW...if you have a Cabelas close, check the Bargain Cave. Sometimes they have screaming deals.

I use my 6x Yosemites in the woods and if I dont have a leupold or equivelant scope on the rifle I'm using that day, I can see longer into the evening with the Bino's by far. I always use cheapies till I got these on sale for $100 and now I'm hooked! IMO 6x is fine for field vieving up to 200yds or so and perfect in the hardwoods of north western MI.

The 6X30's are an awful lot of binocular for around $80. The 8X30's not so much. I have a pair of the 6X30's as well as several others ranging in price up to close to $800. Although not as good, they are amazingly close. I don't know how well they will hold up to long term field use, but the glass is good if you can make 6X work for you.

I've had the 6x30's for about three years now and I love them. With my triple vision glasses I had a lot of trouble with the compact style binoculars. These are not so large as to be cumbersome and are very clear and bright. I just don't seem to need anything more thanthese.
