Great day at the range but....

Had the front sight come off my 31 Rem clone and had a silver bead from an old clasp silver soldered on, that was 2 yrs ago and it's still attached. If it's a shooter then go with what works for you.

The shotgun bead in your link is made out of aluminium according to the review posted there, if it were me... and it could be cause I have 2 ASM's I would go with brass or Silver.

I had the front sight bead fall off of one of my '51s a few years ago. Made a new one out of a piece of 1/8 inch brazing rod checked in a dremel. Made it a tight fit and filled the hole with red locktite before I drove the ne sight in. It's still there.

You can do the same as Fingers advises but also use a dremil to cut the lower end of the hole bigger than the hole is and cut the drill rod a hair longer in the shaft. A few brisk hits with a hammer will swell it out where it will be not be moving then.

Well, thank you for the replies gentlemen. These sound do-able. I was hoping no one would say "just cut a dovetail in your barrel". I do all my own garage gunsmithing, but cutting dovetails as out of my realm. What about soldering one on? Im a plumber and have soldered things on this gun before. I filled in the wedge slot some and then proceded to file the slot to my liking in order to have a tighter fit with the wedge. It got loose over 700-800 rounds. Now its nice and tight. Would the heat screw up the blueing on the barrel if I soldered a new sight on? Or is the press fit/ lock tite a better idea?

I have replaced the front sight by epoxing a cut off #4X3/4" brass flat head phillips wood screw (upside down). This fix made a nice tall bead/post that a little cold bluing "ages" it nicely and it looks good if you don't goop too much epoxy onto the barrel. Cut, size, & shape the "bead" before you glue it on.

Well, I decided to try making my own. I took an old ballcock float rod (brass) I had on the truck and put it to my bench grinder. Made a thin part the diameter of a pencil lead, cut it off and soldered it to my barrel. I left it a little high so I can file to adjust as needed. Here it is mostly done, just have to clean it up some. Thank you all for the help. Kevin.

That's gonna work.
Here's a pic of the brass screw front sight on my 44 Navy:
