Thoughts on this for a reloading bench?

I looked at this one when I was looking and felt the price was great just a bit too big for my loading area. I still might pick one up when I get a bigger place.

That appears to be just a leg & shelf support post kit.

So the size can be whatever size you make it.

You could make it small now, then re-make it big when you get more room later.

I got one for xmas. Its great. I only have the base setup now. Will be adding the back soon. I left the middle shelf out. This allows me to scooch right up againt the bench with my knees underneath

I bought one of these two years ago. I just comes with the plastic end pieces and the plastic shelf brackets. Made it 3' x 5' and have lots of room. Real solid after the wood is in. Made the shelves 3/4" plywood. Will cost about $50 more for the 2x4's and the plywood depending on the size you make the bench.

Once you know your measurements Home Depot will cut the wood for you. Might be a slight charge depending on the number of cuts you need. Another option would be tp purchase a circular saw from a pawn shop if you don't already have one.

$70 is a lot for some hunks of plastic you might not wholly use. I'd pass and buy/source some lumber and hardware or get a big ol' desk/bench for free.

So any recommendations on something that I can use with a Lee Hand Press. Now before anyone says kitchen table, it's not happening, for a number of reasons. Since we have a (soon to be) crawling daughter the setup is going to be something that can be folded up, left bare or one that is sturdy and can't be pulled over or is a cheapie that wobbles. Nothing is going to be kept on it. The actual tools will be keep in my closet top shelf (which is a walk in closet so lots of room) and taken out when used. That said I want a decent amount of room when I'm working so I don't risk knocking stuff over or mixing things up, clean and plenty of room to work is going to be my mantra (along with slow and safe).

I bought a Stack-On bench and it is very sturdy and stable. I have both a Lee single stage and either a Lee Pro 1000 or a Lee Classic turret on it at a given time. I paid about $70 for it new from WalMart.

Sorry I need to learn to read. If the table is to dangerus I don't have a suggestion.

My wife bought me the bench set from Cabelas many years ago. It is a great, simple and extraordinarily solid bench. It's also easy to adjust the size to fit the space you have. I originally had it 5 or 6 feet (?) long but when we moved that was much too large for my room. I reassembled it at 4' long and just 2' wide. It carries my Dillon 550B press, a drill press, a priming press and more. The bottom shelves are full of components, etc. It is easier than building one from scratch and gets my full recommendation.

Neat. I'd love to find that, do you remember the product code or model per chance? I wonder if Amazon has it?

I think this is it!

What is wrong with mointing it to a board then clamping it to the table.
It's a Lee Hand Press. I don't think you can mount it.

I have a 2x4 basics for my reload bench, it is exactly what I needed since one can make it any size.

It is very solid.

Gfankik you was a little slow typeing I already cought it & fixed it but sure you could mount it. I've seen it done. There is a thread somewhere on this site with a picture of it.

Ah I see. Either way it could only be a temp mount as my wife doesn't (and I don't) want anything the cat or our daughter could yank/pull/get caught on etc.

She's actually concerned that it can't fold and put away, but I'm telling her that it's sturdy and stable and not like my cheap DVD/BR wall, well not cheap and it's pretty big, but wobbly and something could be pulled down (therefore the movies are getting boxed up and the DVD shelf I guess trashed or sold).

That said can anyone link me to the pictures of a mounted Lee Hand Press?

So why can you not just sit at the table over a news paper if you have concerns & load a few then box it ip & put it away?

Because she won't let me. :) Truthfully I want a setup that isn't dependent on someone else not using the table, plus due to a light fixture there isn't a ton of vertical clearance, and that people eat on (even if it has newspapers on it and is packed up). It's kind of hard to explain the layout without a picture. Let's just say it doesn't work for a number of reasons.

If your going to build a bench you might as well save your money by skiping the plastic things & use all wood. It will be just as easy. Second option would start out with you saying look here woman. Let me know how it works out.

Yes that is the one I got gfanikf. Now I used a pair the lee bench plates to mount all my presses so I can change them at will.
Would you say it's very sturdy and doesn't wobble and not something a child can pull down?

Mine sites or a carpeted floor on slides and no wobble at all. I doubt any small child could turn it over on them even if they climbed on it. I have a 2 year old great grandson that climbs on every thing and have even caught him on top of it. It isn't light by the way though I can lift it I would rather not hence the furniture sliders under it. It seems I can't post a picture of it when I first set it up as I already posted it here. Here is the tread http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=657874 and look at post #11. I've since put on the second Lee bench plate to mount the second press but have not taken pictures of it since. It is pretty good gauge of steel and my only concern was the top but it has no flex at all in it.

Just get a very small card table and stow it all when done. With a Lee hand press, the table will only need to hold your beverage and some few components and whatall temporarily.. you don't need a "bench". If you want your house to be jungle jim proof, that's understandable.. get/make something that's immovable.

While I like Joes setup, the idea of a card table is a good idea. I found a Coleman 4 in 1 table on Amazon.

This one looks good and my wife likes it too. Its nice in that it can be used for more than one thing and since its Amazon it can be easily returned if junk. I do like the stack on if I move on to a bigger press later on
