What is your preferred, most useful gun?

for all practical purposes i would have to say one of my 1858 Remingtons and a number of spare cylinders.
lets say this country suffers an economical colapse and ammo became unavailable I can make my own black powder and cast my own bullets
my number two go to gun would be a Ruger 1022 because I have a crap load of ammo and you can carry a lot of rounds without taking up a lot of room.
number 3 would be the Ruger MKII for the same reason I would choose the 1022
plus it is very easy to carry and the most accurate pistol I have ever owned.

12 gauge 870 shotgun! Can be used for large & small game, wing shooting, home defense. but it is a bit hard to use as a concealed piece, but then again you'd play hell shooting clay targets with a 1911.

I'm gonna have to agree with the Glock. That being said, I'm thinking of purchasing a .22 rifle. I just can't find an excuse not to own one.

My firearms are almost exclusively for defensive purposes.

The gun I had to leave at home, or maybe leave behind in my car, is useless.

Different people have different uses in mind for their guns.

22 LR Browning Buckmark

One thing that most forget, is your community. The majority of us know at least a few folks with powerful rifles for hunting large game. So, I don't really need a hunting rifle when I can team up with someone who already has one. The Buckmark is accurate enough to take small game for survivial. Can be reasonably carried. For home and carry defense, I'm fairly confident that I can hit a few well placed shots to deter the threat. Besides, just presenting ANY handgun will grab the perp's attention and make them think twice.

But more importantly, it's just so dang fun and cheap to shoot Instead of getting something different to add to the collection, I might just get another 22 lr handgun. It's just that useful.

The SKS: low cost and uses some of the lowest-cost centerfire rounds.
Imagine what a US manufacturer would charge to produce and sell these.

Love my SKS and Mini14 but I'd go with a Marlin lever action 30/30.
