Bought these 2 guns about 3 years ago for like $450 for the AK and $330 for the Saiga. Either I am hallucinating or they are really both selling for around $800 now...?!

Is it the whole election cycle thing or have supplies really dried up, because if its the election I might just cash out and wait till the dust settles. :D:D:D

You can find saigas for less $800 now. J&G has converted ones for $600, which is still a bit much, but its not $800 even with shipping and a high transfer fee.

At a recent trip to my LGS I asked the guy to hold one of the Saigas he had hanging up. When I looked at the price tag it said $800. When I asked him what modifications had been done on it, he said none. It was a stock Saiga in 7.62 for $800.

You can get one online for $500 including tax, FFL, and shipping.

I have looked around more and have found some unmodified Saigas for around $400 (the absolute cheapest). But as far as the AK Yugo under folder... looks like they have gone way up, even on Gunsamerica.

I noticed the same thing looking at an ad today. $600+ for a WASR? Come on, really? I love my Yugo underfolder but I'm glad I got it several years ago. A WASR is a great $400 rifle and was an awesome deal at $279, but 600? Heck the Yugo is borderline at 600, haven't handled a Saiga in a long time but unconverted I wouldn't go anywhere near 600! Oh well, in a few years people may laugh at my post like they would posts from people in 2004 about no SKS being worth over 200 without a case of ammo. Time will tell.

I paid $500 my M70AB2 in august of '11, went to the same gunshow this past august, and saw the exact rifle going for $700 at the min. election years are definately to blame.

At LGS in Ft. Worth TX, unconverted Saiga runs close to $500, WASR for $600 to close to $700.

The SAM-7 A1-R that I purchased in 04' for around $900, now goes for close to $2000!! (if you can find one)

High end quality rifles assembled from parts kit with an American made barrel and Nodak, Elk River, etc. reciever, $700+

Prices seem to always go 3 steps forward, 1 step back. (thats when they do come back down SOME)

Good Lord...I don't know, is it just election year, or is there more to it this time???

Prices have sky-rocketed this time.

Remember when WASRs were $300.00?? I do.

2004 I purchased an Arsenal SAM-7 A-IR for $900.00. Now...If you can find one it is $2000.00

What I do realize is that all of us "gun guys" need to stick together and vote together. Regardless of "party". Otherwise guys...The gov't will take your firearms. Not a pretty prospect.

For Liberty, For Freedom,

Best to you...

I went to a gun show here in Tallahasse the first weekend in Sep. It looked to me like the Saigas in 223 and 7.62X39 had jumped up about 100 bucks from the show 3 mos earlier. 450 to 500 was the asking prices. The WASR's had really gone up asking prices were 7 to 800 bucks. I just about stained my drawers. Couldn't believe they could sell any at that rate. 5 or 6 years ago I bought 2 Saigas at 199 each. A few years earlier I purchased a almost new Arsenal SA M7S with a Kobra red dot sight, case and 6 Bulgarian mags for 700 dollars. I thought they were overpriced at that time but nothing compared to what the prices are now.

Show me one that ever went for 2000. There's a difference between what people are asking and what people are getting.

Jeez, look at the old Mitchell arms, or Polytech. I've seen instances of those sell well in excess of $2K, and not just during the Federal AWB where they were pretty much classified along with Unobtainium...

There's no "ceiling" price for high quality AK-47's. Once the supply stops, they tend to get rather collectible.

Yugo M70AB2's - EARLY production run models with the wood furniture especially - ARE getting collectible. It's probably the finest example of an AK47 I've ever held. I sold dozens of them at my old gun shop, kept ONE fine example for my own personal use. Still, to this day, love that piece. :)

mshootnit,

I wanted to reply to you. (btw, not trying to be pissy, you had a legit question)

I would give you the exact $$ figure, but I am in a hotel right now that has a Horrible internet connection, so I can't verify.

Example: Atlantic Firearms (BTW, bought from them before, good people, good CS) has the Arsenal milled (from memory, I believe an SAM-7, cause I can't pull it up) for around $1900.00. The SAM-7 lacks the rail, hence the SAM-7 A-1R.

I can not find the A-1R anywhere. Maybe it is no longer made or sold. I do not know. Rail and NATO buttstock, milled reciever, supposedly made on Bulgy machines.

So...A price (as offered and stated) close to $2000.00, I believe is a fair statement.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Atlantic Firearms has 7.62 and 5.45 Saigas for $400. The IZ-332 and 340, which have all the standard AK front end parts, are barely more at $459 and $469 respectively. Those last 2 are the best deals going on AK's right now if you ask me. Just a few simple mods and they're back to original configuration.

Just my opinion; the way things in general are going, anyone that likes the cartridge(s) and a genuine factory Kalashnikov ought to get these while they can.

One thing is certain, they will never be cheaper and it' better than money in the bank. More than likely they (and about everything else of any value) will get considerably more expensive.
