Do you prefer the DA/SA or the LEM trigger system on your H&K pistols? I'm planning on buying a P2000SK in 9mm later this year and thinking this over.

I don't have a HK, but I'd definitely go LEM if I were to get one. I think the trigger pull should remain the same the entire magazine.

Realistically speaking, there's two versions of the LEM, the regular one (V2) that has a constant pull of some 7 lbs, and then the light LEM (V1, 4.5lbs), which everyone likes but HK doesn't seem to want to actually sell. There's supposed to be more variants of the LEM, but I don't think they've ever been offered for sale here, unless it was to a LEA. I've never once seen a Light LEM (V1) pistol in the wild, except for those whose owners have converted them.

Never met a V2 LEM owner that liked the trigger. It's just too heavy and long each and every time. You can get accustomed to it and learn to work the reset, but to me that's counterproductive to training skill sets with other, normal pistols. I know a handful of people who have bought them and tried to like them, but they all got sold off at a later date.

When HK makes a new generation pistol with a constant pull, minimal take-up, 4-5lb pull range and a short reset I'll be very, very interested. It is for that very reason that I've been shooting mostly Glocks lately. Until then, I'll continued to use the USP in Condition 1 or use the P7.

I had a client who wanted to convert from the SIG 226 platform to the H&K P2000 platform for carry. He was trying to decide between the DA/SA and the LEM also, so he bought both and figured to sell off the one he didn't like or just convert it...he likes multiples of a platform for training and carry.

The P2000 DA/SA was a bit harder to manage (spongy)than the SIG 226 and the LEM was almost unshootable for him. He finally converted the LEM to the Light LEM...I've never seen one in the wild either.

The Light LEM is very shootable, but it also takes a different technique from the SIG DAK (which is very revolver like).

I like the DA/SA P2000's decocker as it places you thumb near the hammer where it belongs during re-holstering

LEM, but converted to the light LEM. Over the years, I've had all my HK's converted and I love them. Shooting DA/SA is seemingly becoming foreign to me, although I have a few Sigs that are in that configuration.

I really don't get all the complaints about the "inconsistent" trigger pulls of a DA/SA pistol. There are a lot of truly great DA/SA triggers out there. The Walther P99AS and SIG P-series spring immediately to mind. They are not inconsistent. A long, smooth first pull and short, smooth subsequent pulls. Every time. Consistent. :)

I think a lot of it is just an excuse for all the Glock-fans who have to justify living with a terrible-feeling trigger pull.

Interesting side rant, but HK pistols (thread topic and all) are not known for having a great trigger in either double action or single action, which is why HK's LEM has drawn interest, even if subsequently leaving the purchaser feeling hoodwinked with the ever-present, ever-crummy V2 pull.

To come back around on topic, which HK trigger do you prefer, the mediocre-to-poor DA/SA variant, the awful V2 7-8lb. constant pull, or the elusive unicorn V1 4.5lb. pull? :)

LEM

LEM is the best thing that happened to guns since the bullet.

I personally dislike guns having a slide-safety or anything... other than a good-to-go chambered round and a conscious mind.

LEM HK45c (Light)
LEM P2000SK (Light)
LEM P2000 (Light)

The light LEM is an absolute dream. If you haven't experienced this trigger, you owe it to yourself to try it. I like it so much I no longer buy anything else.

boricua9mm: The P30LS is readily available for sale when you can find them. I was lucky enough to find two of them at my local gun shop, but I've also seen them for sale by Cross Creek Guns and HKparts. The P30LS Variant 1 .40 S&W is my all-time favorite pistol and it's also my EDC.

That's why I prefer cocked and locked SA -- every shot the same and great trigger, while the LEM is good compared to most other partially cocked trigger/striker guns, it still mostly stinks compared to a decent SA trigger.

I have to disagree with this.

I've owned, shot, and carried various 1911s (including some high-end ones) for decades, so I know just how good a good SA trigger can be. Is the light LEM trigger as good? An emphatic no. But does it "stink" in comparison? Not by a long shot.

I own DA/SA as well as light LEM and like both.

Yes, but the SA HK is certainly good.
-Yes as are their DA triggers for anyone who's shot a DA/SA revolver.

I like the DA/SA just for the flexibility. I'm used to the DA pull after years of ownership, are there better SA triggers? Yes, but the SA HK is certainly good.

I have a HK USPc in 45 cal. Just because it's DA/SA, doesn't mean you can't carry it cocked and locked. Trigger is the same everytime.
