How to wrap a pull through for a Lee Enfield...

A question for you SMLE...

Just how sturdy is that pull-cord for the Enfields? It doesn't look like it would hold up to a lot of abuse.

I wonder if the Brits carried several of them...just in case.

I've got a '42 Long Branch No4Mk1 myself. I've never been interested in it's authenticity so I've never picked up the pull-though for it.
 
The older, natural fiber pull through will wear out over time. The end loop was expressly for use by the armourer to pull broken pull throughs out. There are some nylon pull throughs out there that were mostly for the L1A1 SLR, but they will work for the LE and are virtually unbreakable.
