I need it to break into a safe. Life lesson: Never buy an electronic safe that doesn't have a mechanical backup.

Anyway, it occurs to me that there's no limit to the amount of carnage I could inflict with this sucker without reloading. And I got it with no background check, waiting period, or registration!

I think it would be easier and cheaper than buying a new safe to just call a locksmith

If he can find a locksmith he trusts to come into his home and see his gun collection....

You sure there's no backup? No pairs of metal "dots" anywhere to touch a 9v battery to or anything? Sounds odd to me.

I wish were as simple as calling a locksmith. No locksmith that I've been able to locate locally or on the Internet has ever seen this make and model.

I got this small safe at a gun show from someone who had salvaged it from a hotel that was being demolished. It only cost $65, so it looked like a good deal. When I got home, I found a man's wedding ring in it. I tried to find the vender who sold it to me do we could trace it back to the owner. No luck.

Watch out, a 36" crowbar is an assault weapon in some jurisdictions. In these areas they have neutered 28" postban crowbars, and they are missing the slot for prying out nails.

I had an electronic safe fail. The customer support helped me to get it open. It is often possible to have a digital converted to mechanical so i would call a locksmith.

Sorry buy i think comparing the potential inflicted carnage of a crow bar to a firearm is silly.

Unlimited ammo capacity on that crowbar. . . expect legislation to reduce your swing capacity down to no more than 10 swings before resting.

Ahhh... The convenience of electronics.

How about a portable rental chop saw? Then rebuild the door as a mechanical unit.

Wait... if it's painted black then it's a scary assault weapon. If it's yellow, red or any other color you are fine. Just make sure it doesn't also have a bayonet lug or those scary rails.

It does have a mechanical backup: A 36" crowbar.

Made me LOL

And I believe you could do more carnage with it than you could a firearm. It is much quieter, doesn't even need a silencer.

Angle grinder and attack the sides or back. It will open like a campbell soup can.

The crowbar is ok so long as it doesn't have a pistol grip. Or a rail.

haha great now I'm gonna have to go build an assault crowbar for giggles, the new mossberg tactical invader? Seriously there is a reason we call it a spare key. I demand pics of a railed up bar, by the way most cheap safes require very little to open small sentry fire safes and the like can be popped in seconds with a Little force

If you can open with a crowbar, that's not much of a safe...
I got locked out of my safe, and the locksmith had to bring it outside and spend a couple of hours drilling and sawing the back. It sucked to lose the safe but was nice to think of a thief trying to do this while my house alarm calls the police.

wooly booger, this proves my ideas about home security. If you have something a professional thief wants badly enough, you can't stop him. Your best bet is to make them have to work so hard they'll give up and go somewhere else.

The crowbar attack on a safe is not new or unheard of and doesn't make a safe less secure. A safe is meant to deny easy access to the contents. Every safe is vulnerable to brute force of some level. The safe increases the amount of time required to break in so that it becomes a losing proposition. A thief is not going to take the hours of work required to break a safe unless they can take the safe with them.

I would look for some external contacts though to see if you can power it back up before you destroy the thing.

or destroy it and post pics for us to enjoy. http://www.imgur.com is a great image host.

Did you not watch them drag one on a chain behind a car on Dukes of Hazard?

Crowbar?!?
Amateur.
