Lancer magazine question

I just ordered some lancer magazines the other day thinking they were the L5awm version and they turned out to be the L5, my fault not the sellers.

My question is are the awm version of these magazines so vastly superior that I should get rid of the l5's I just got to fund getting the awm's. Or are the improvements in the awm fairly minor and I'd be just as well sticking with the l5's I bought?

There are a few differences. Different follower, floor plate, texture, and feed lips. I honestly can't tell you if one is more robust than the other but if I had to bet I would say the AWM would be because the the metal reinforcement on the lips is bigger and covers more surface area. The L5 does have a rubberized floor plate but is harder to remove (press in 2 tabs on either side of the mag). The AWM is much easier to disassemble than the L5 (press in 1 tab on the bottom). I don't beat up or abuse any of my magazines so I will never know if one is tougher than the other. Both have worked flawlessly under normal conditions. Hope this helps. I'd say you are good to go with the L5's.

Here are some pics. The 20 round L5's are the same as the 30's.

20rd is an L5 and 30rd is an L5 AWM.

My l5 has not given me any trouble over 2-3 years of occasional use.

I have both and they're both great magazines. I prefer the AWM only because the steel piece extends down to where the mag release fits into the depression in the magazine.

I think the Lancer mags are the best out there.

I'm planning on taking these to war so if there is a potential issue there I hope to find out sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the info so far guys
