An elderly gentleman gave me this rifle. It appears to be a k98. It has no german nazti markings. None of the numbers match.

I have a k98 with all matching i got years ago. Cant figure this one out. I do notice the front site is in the wood where mine is all metal. It is also shorter. The front near the barrel has that extension for stacking rifles i believe.

Just real odd. Dont see anything ground off or peened. Strange.

my guess would be a Yugo or Czech Mauser.

never mind a Yugo would have a crest on the receiver

A scrubbed German Kar98a or possibly a Polish Wz.98 scrubbed as part of Republican aide for the Spanish Civil War.

What exactly does it say on the receiver wall?

The receiver wall says k98 and ten a serial number. I just dont see anything scratched out etc. no symbols or anything just sn numbers that dont match.

Stock is in good shape for sure.
