Got my first Piranha (Amazon model) - Not too impressed.

Thought I would add a Piranha to my collection of Microtechs, Spydercos and Busses. Just got it in the mail today. While it looks real nice at first glance there are a few turn-offs: Slight back and forth wiggle with no way to fix that. The blade is, well, high polish, but not mirror polish. It is oh so slightly uneven and this makes the blade look 'cheap'. The scales are pretty nice though. Guess its what you can expect for around $125. Microtech still rules!

Well, I have a $25 Boker Magnum which is really better overall than the Piranha! No joke. Much sharper, also an auto, scales are champagne so not as striking as the burnt orange from the Piranha. Nice satin blade finish. So, while often true, price alone does not guarantee diddely squat.

Significant play, splotchy anno on the handles, bad grinds, etc. If you want a killer auto, try Protech. They are the only brand that IMO almost outdoes Microtech on ots autos.

Must agree with you. Have a Protech Doru Skull, awesome knife!
