Lists like this make me realize how gun geeky and spoiled we are. I've never owned 10 guns at one time in my life. To be sure I'm not into the competitive gun sports where for instance a skeet shooter probably has several shotguns but how many ancestors do you think you have that ever had ten guns?
A well off doctor friend of mine used to say she couldn't enjoy excess because she was just too close to her middle class roots. I feel like that too and I just can't justify to myself accumulating a bunch of guns beyond those I have a use for. Ten or so seems a pretty fair number that ought to serve for any shooting needs or wants I'd have, and a number in that range is what I'm aiming for.
These ought to be able to handle whatever my needs might be:
1) Ruger 10/22 TD w/ Eotech, for all general .22 duties
2) Ruger LCR-22 w/ CT grip handy little revolver for training, use as a bug & plinking
3) Ruger KLCR .357 w/ CT grip for CCW
4) Glock G17L 9mm, defense & general shooting
5) 7.5" Ruger SRH .454 for deer hunting here in OH
6) Ruger SRH Alaskan in .454, for my someday trip to Alaska
7) FN SLP 12 ga w/ ghost rings, slugs & buckshot
8) Browning Cynergy 12ga, 30" barrels & composite stock, hunting, clays type shooting
9) Rock River national match flattop AR15 w/ QR scope for most rifle duties
10) Ruger M77 Hawkeye in .338 win mag for hunting anything the AR won't handle.
5 long guns, 5 handguns and not much I couldn't do that I'm interested in. Now if I had to get down to what I consider my truely essential guns the number would be halved:
1) 10/22TD w/Eotech for .22 needs
2) KLCR .357 w/ CT's for CCW
3) Glock 17L for defense/general shooting
4) RRA AR w/QR scope for rifle duties
5) Cynergy 12ga for shotgunning needs
