M1 reciever

I've seen a few come from Sarco, they were all very serviceable. Will they ever be presentation grade? Probably not, but they all ended up being fine shooters.

Make a notation on your order as to what you expect.
I haven't bought a receiver from them but I have bought a lot of small parts. They send the incorrect part about half the time and it takes 2 weeks to process the orders.

There is more to it than where a barrel will screw in and headspace. Lots of areas to check/gage before starting assembly. Example -The frame bridge is critical. It should not be cracked, broken, or worn to the point that it does not keep the firing pin retracted until the bolt is locked.

Get a Kuhnhausen manual or possibly one of Scott Duff's books (The M1 Garand Complete Assembly Guide - How to build your own M1 Garand by Walt Kuleck with Clint McKee) to see what areas to inspect/gage and where those gotchas may be hiding.

Before buying a questionable receiver, you might want to check and see if the CMP still has receivers or barreled receivers.
Those are NOT junk.

Iibeleive Sarcos are pitted, I would ask if they have any that arent pitted above the woodline

Unfortunatly CMP has been out receivers and barreled receivers for some time.
Dupage Trading had a few barreled receivers the other day

Other areas to check on an M1 receiver are the sight elevation index serrations on the left rear of the receiver, and excess wear in the op rod raceway on the right side. Wear on the former will allow the rear sight to fall from recoil, and wear on the latter can allow the op rod to jump out of engagement.
