I finally did it, during my second Appleseed I shot a qualifying score with my AR 15 at the Appleseed event at my club. It was only 60 bucks for 2 days of good instruction and a course on American heritage. The course teaches practical accuracy with a rifle and sling, field shooting. It is a great warm up for deer season and lets you find things to work on to be a better shooter, and Citizen. Excellent course. I used a Bushmaster in 5.56 with a cheapo tasco 3x9. It worked, check out that target! Anyhow this is a nationwide program, check out Project Appleseed for info. Good training on the cheap.

Nice work! Appleseed shoots seem like great fun and a great learning experience. I look forward to attending one hopefully in the not too distant future.

Thanks! The project is a good time. The instructors worked with my 14 year old very well, no patch for him yet but the fire is lit in him! I think that taking a kid to one of these is a great way to protect the second amendment. They learn about what it means to be an American!

Congrats!

I attended my first Appleseed over the weekend, and didn't qualify, so I know how hard it can be to get the patch!

Great job! I too got my rifleman badge at my second event. Mine, however, was a 3 day course that was at actual long range distances. I used my M1 Garand instead of the 10/22 that I used at the first one which was a two day. If you get a chance to do a three day event I highly suggest signing up for it. It was at the NRA Whittington Center at Raton, NM but they may be at other places as well.

Kayak, its that much sweeter when you get it! 84, Good GOD man, how is your shoulder? 500rds of 06? You are hardcore! And yes I will attend more events! Great fun!

My shoulder is fine. I was able to find a Ram-Line stock to replace the wood furniture (kept it stored), added a long eye relief scope to an Ultimak rear hand guard and a Pachmayr Decelerator butt pad and had no shoulder issues. It weighs almost 13 pounds unloaded. Besides, an M1 in stock condition is not noted to have a heavy recoil.

Congrats IROCZ!!!

Appleseed is good stuff, you can learn a lot. Even if you "already know how to shoot", you probably don't know what you don't know.

Excellent!

Appleseed is a great, extremely inexpensive for what you get.

240 is a great AQT.

You probably don't need it, being from Texas. You most likely know more about the American Revolution and shooting than most Americans. :)

Yeah Texas was highly involved in that...

Uh huh.
Nevertheless, Texas is a good place for shooting.
In looking deeper into this, I see that there are Appleseed events up in Ft. Worth, about 90 mins. or so away. Not too bad. Have to plan on one in the future.

You're lucky, I have to drive 2 1/2 hours for the closest Appleseed.

If you haven't yet (and thus are not aware), it's worth the drive

I've driven to three different venues that were each farther than that

Thanks again Guys, My club is about an hour away. They are holding 2 more next year I guess.

HUZZAH!!!

Congrats on the patch! I have been shooting with Appleseed for a while now and am hoping to start as an instructor in training soon. I have a 3 day full distance event coming up next weekend in Crittenden, KY- I can't wait!

Huzzah back at ya! The normal range is 25 yards to train, then you move to "known distance" and that depends on the range facility available. 25 yard shooting is a challenge!
