MidwayUSA and pistol powder alerts--what's the point?!

I just did my search, took 3 mins. Anyone looking for H335? Found it in three different suppliers, including 8 pounders. Want Long shot? Just saw that as well. Saw H 110 a couple of days ago, not today. See how easy? I picked those 3 because I hear people looking for them constantly. Pistol powder takes this looking method as well, but it will disappear quick. ALWAYS ATTEND YOUR LOCAL GUN SHOWS AS WELL!

I have had notifications from Midway many times in the past year or so and they are almost always out when you log on. I have logged on at 5:00AM and found a notification was sent late at night and they are out of the item in question. Sometimes you luck out but it has not happened to me very often. Never happened tryiing to buy pistol powders.

You are wasting your time attempting to buy powder from Midway.
+1 if you are solely relying on email alerts to buy popular powders. Until things improve at MidwayUSA, when the "Where are there reloading components ..." thread was started, many reported lag between inventory posted on website as "in stock" and email alerts going out. By the time you got the email alerts, most popular items were long gone.

I see people all the time on this and other forums bemoaning not seeing this or that powder for over a year, and I have seen multiple times the past few months where one of these suppliers has had it.
On the "Where are there ... components" thread, we have seen W231/HP38, Unique, Titegroup, Bullseye, Red Dot/Promo, CFE-Pistol, BE-86, etc. multiple times this year. Of course, they were often sold out within hours to less than 30 minutes. Even search bots like Gunbot.net etc. lag up to hours to days from the time the vendors show "in stock" on their website.

My best suggestion would be to subscribe to the thread and act quickly to order powders when you see them in stock (Thread Tools > Subscribe to this Thread and link to your smart phone email for immediate notification) - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=707473&page=107

<5 minutes is probably about 4.5 min to long, as you found out. I also suspect some receive the alerts before other people due to the various technologies involved. Just my thoughts. I long ago gave up on the powder lottery, I was always a second to slow.

I have been on the computer and got their alert, called on the spot and was too late. I love Midway for other reasons, but acquiring powder from them isnt time well spent....not to mention the possibility of multiple Hazmat fees.

True that Russel..I imagine that the only thing worse than a hazmat is having to pay two of them.. omg.gif
