No, I have cast a whole dang bunch of bullets in my life though.

Never cast any Boolets though.
I think I fluxed & skimmed all the Boolets off and threw it away when it cooled off???

Cast up about 5,000 .44 and .44-40 bullets, plus another 1,000 .32 caliber bullets over the last few days. Still have about 700 pounds of lead to smelt into ingots when I get time, and another 1,500 pounds of ingots to move into the shop.......

Hope this helps.

Just finished up casting 4 calibers. They are all spoken for at the moment. Scheduling another batch to cast here soon to finish some for a buddy then cast mine. Lotta work to do before the weather turns warm again.

Cast up 4 calibers and plan to add a few more molds next month or so.

Coating and sizing of the current batch was suppose to begin today but i was waiting on a few things from midway that didn't get here till late so tomorrow I'll be getting busy.

I love the COWW's versatility. You can make them as soft or as hard as you need them. Now that im coating all that don't matter anymore.

I don't do any casting but I sure do shoot a lot of them, I even like a good cast bullet more than the most expensive major brand bullet espeacially for hogs a well placed shot will drill a hole all the way through puttin down with ease. I like shooting a hard 158gn from my 357 works everytime.

I still have a large coffee can full of 45's that need to be sized and lubed from my last session.
Next session will be making ingots. Still have a 5gal bucket of wheel weights and more x-ray sheeting that needs melted down.

I started casting in 1970 and it's safe to say I've cast tons of pistol bullets in the popular calibers.

I missed out on a deal of casting equipment about a year ago. I do want to get into casting for sure.... I shot a lot of 45 ACP and would love to be able ot make my own....
But I dont' cast yet.... reload a *ton*, but no casting yet...

Yep I cast boolits for every calibre I own, both rifle & handgun, currently about 15 calibres, including making my own gas checks and percussion caps. I love it and, as someone already said, I couldn't afford to shoot if I didn't cast. Have you already joined the Cast Boolits forum?

Man I can't wait to get a set of those HP's...Purdy Boolits!

I've been at it for a few years now.

I shoot 95% cast in .45 Colt, .40 and .38 Spcl.
Tried it in 9mm but it was more trouble than it was worth IMO. That's the only handgun I don't cast for.

I toyed with the idea of loading some cast rifle stuff but haven't ever really tried it. If I shot milsurps a lot I probably would, but probably won't do it in the '06, though I know a lot of folks do.

I find casting to be a hobby just as much as reloading. Reloading takes a lot of your attention and you have to really be on your game but with casting you can just get into a rhythm and just make a mindless task out of it. Sometimes I like to do that.

That's a real nice mold there groundsclown, I like the hp's.
Yes, rupe01, there are a lot of nice folks over there at the castboolits forum.(yes that's the way it's spelled).

Have only been casting for a few months. Love it. Should have done it long ago. There is something special about casting your own bullets.

My problem with casting is trying to get lead at a reasonable price. Every place in my area that has lead, mainly tire shops, seems to have commitments with other reloaders for their wheel weights and whatever other lead around.

The price of lead seems to have doubled and tripled the last couple of years to the point that I can buy plated bullets for not much more than the cost of lead.

I agree with the cost increase, but for the alloy I purchased in 70# boxes for 70 - 80 bucks, I can pour on average around 2100 bullets in whatever style I want, when I want them, and don't have to wait for them to get here or be in stock.

Then when I recover those bullets from my trap after being shot, I can do it all over again for only the cost of propane to smelt them and electricity to pour them up again.

I too found that every joint in my area had their "preferred" customers for WW's, and as such I decided that it was cheaper for me to simply find a couple of sellers who were putting out good product and buy as much as I could as often as I could. Now that started about 3-4 years ago, and I now have plenty sitting in reserve. I still pick some up once in a while like tin or pure to use to blend up my HP alloys, but for standard ol solids, I can pour for years to come.

Yep!
Several million over the years.
Shot several national records in NRA-PPC with my cast bullets.
Got a 5gal bucket full of linotype in basement, couple of tons of scrap and w/w on back patio in 5gal buckets.
Got perhaps 10k in bullets cast on bench in various calibers (.22 to 12ga)

Shot last two of three deer I've killed this year with cast bullets. (.35Rem and .338ME).

However, to dicuss "boolits"; you're at the WRONG web site:

I know Goose, I was just wondering how many folks on the high road forum are in to casting just like the powder coat thread a wile back.I got my 1st cast bullet,4x4 blacktail buck this fall w/30-06. But I guess that should be on the hunting thread.

Hoping to get started soon. I was using a homemade trap and have been mining my berm and have 34 lbs of range scrap ingots made up. I also have some pewter I found at the thrift stores made into in 2oz ingots. I PIFed a couple of those to Boltlover, as it was suggested in a thread he needed some tin in his alloy. I just need to find some more lead and get the casting equipment. Kind of like PotatoHead said in another thread, Wife says we cant afford to save any more money right now :)
