Some of you may have seen some of my other posts on this mauser sporter. IV finally got some ammo loaded and custom dies being cut for the wierd version of 8mm06 it's chambered for. I pulled it out of the stock and started cleaning the wood to add a little oil to it and realized this. Obviously the piece of steel is there to hold it together and was doing a good job. The split was closed so tight I couldn't even see it before removing the little steel piece. I believe I should be able to just add some glue and screw her back together and be good to go? Or is more involved repair in order?

I use Brownells ACRAGLAS. http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-t...ock-bedding-adhesives/acraglas--prod1033.aspx I drill holes from inside the stock where they cant be seen. This gets fresh wood for the acraglas to soak into. If done right, it should run to the outside of the stock/crack. A syringe can be used to inject it, if needed. Petroleum jelly outside on the checkering will keep acraglas from sticking. Then find a way to pull the crack together till the acraglas sets.
