What is the last gun that you bought?

White Walker

That is one very neat (and rare), '03! Thanks for sharing all the photos of it, especially with the rod bayonet extended. Definitely not something you see every day.

Vern, I've never been able to own one of these or even hold one or study one up close because they've been so far out of my ability to buy one. Then this one came up on the auction block and I told my wife that I just had to try for it. I was really surprised to say the least when we won after only six bids and the other bidders stopped. I got it for $2,300.00, which is about 5% of what a good one usually goes for. My boy doesn't show any interest in it and doesn't care to inherit any of my rifles....go figure that one out. Yes, it's certainly still in 30-03! The rifle feels really balanced in my hands in a different manner than a normal 1903. A bit heavier and just has a different feel to it. When the rod bayonet is tucked in, it touches the front of the recoil plate in the stock.

Bannockburn, You're so very welcome. I'm very happy that you guys like it! Nobody around my house or community cares much for it or even knows what the significance of such a rifle is. My wife chastised me for wasting my money on another old gun. She just doesn't know I guess. But then how could most people know what it is without informative gun forums such as this? I'm glad to be able to share this with you guys!

Excellent photos WW. What a fantastic piece. You can always leave it to an arms museum, there are many I am sure that would love to have an unaltered original 1903.

Last year Got a Glock 21, then sold my Marlin camp carbine 45, replaced it with an Areo carbine 45 (takes Glock 21 mags). Last month got Glock 30s.

Hi...

Put a down payment on a Beretta M9A1 yesterday.

Went to about 5 LGS looking for one...finally found one at $615. Actually, cheaper than I had seen it anywhere in the last month while looking at prices/availability.

Will pick it up one day this week.

Unfortunately, it isn't even for me...my son turns 21 on Sunday and it will be his birthday present.

Pennsylvania firearms law allows a father to gift a handgun to a child or grandchild without any of the usual paperwork and/or background checks.

Once he gets his CCW permit, we may do a formal paperwork transfer, but under the law it is not required.

Went to order a Ruger AR556 for my birthday yesterday. Was looking at LC9s but a S&W Shield 9mm followed me home. The AR is ordered. Have not shot the Shield. Not sure which one to call my birthday present.

I sure don't want the rifle going to an arms museum finlog. I'd sooner have them buried with my remains. Museums have more stuff than they can ever display and they and the curators are known to always sell off items that are donated to them. They have that legal right. It and the others will be given to somebody who's really knowledgeable about and extremely interested in 03's and who's kids won't sell them off for chump change.
I'm glad that you enjoyed the photo's!

The last one I bought was a Rock River Arms stripped lower. Apparently the lower receiver is a gun to the Feds. It is now a 16" carbine with an Aimpoint patrol optic and MagPul backup sights co-visualized with the Aimpoint (when flipped up). Love it!

Henry Golden Boy in .22LR.
Two Pietta Colt 1851 Navies in steel frame and .44 cal.
A Pietta Colt 1851 Navy Sheriff Model in .36 cal.

Guess I am stuck in the Old West at the moment.......

And have two Crosman pellet guns on order, one from their Custom Shop.
Just recently bought the Daisy Avanti 853 pellet rifle, for 10 meter comp.
Hey, it's cheaper than rimfire these days, and just as accurate and fun! :D
