Company announced annual bonuses so I decided to buy a new firearm. Of course the bonus is an excuse; I don't need any excuse...but anyway I thought this was a good addition to the collection:

The replaceable barrel concept is intriguing. Of course the 4" is backordered. Wonder what the 2.5" bbl would be like. Good load with blue dot and it would be flash and bang I bet. Taking it to the range today.

The SN is DW0000XX where the XX is a pair of digits that usually gets a sly snicker from people. You can figure that out.;)

Nice use of your bonus! I had a Dan Wesson Pistol Pac many years ago and really liked the modular design of the gun. Also liked having the ability to readily change out the grips without having to deal with the fixed shape of a grip frame. Only had the 4" and 6" barrels so I can't really say what using the 2.5" barrel was like.

I have an old Dan Wesson model 15-2 with vent rib I bought new as a young lad in 1980. It shot great out of the box, and all these years later it still shoots great and hasn't lost any of it's accuracy either. Great addition to your collection, I'm sure you will be as happy with it in 20-30 years as you are today.

Pretty much what you would expect.

Took mine (with 2") to an indoor range years ago with a shooting buddy.

Fired a few rounds. In the darkness it was a true 'great balls of fire' experience.

After the first three rounds, my buddy put his head around the partition and said "What the hell are you shooting?"

Just factory magnums.

I got my first Dan Wesson in 1977, and I guess I just could not stop

I think the new ones might be a little high priced, but I'm glad they are back in production

Hmmm. Was just cleaning my Model 15-2 today. Noticed it has recessed chambers, and the new one in this post does not. Wonder when Dan Wesson made the switch.

I'm a big fan of Dan Wesson revolvers. I have not yet had a chance to shoot one of the new production 715's but it looks identical to my Monson built 715. I'm sure it will shoot well for you. I think you may find one of the many used Dan Wesson wood target grips available on eBay would compliment the lines of your 715 better than the Hogue they are shipping on those guns.

This is a good site for DW parts. He used to sell custom DW barrel assemblies as well, but I don't see them offered anymore. Either he stopped making them, or he just doesn't have any in stock...or maybe he is making he new barrels for DW and they don't want him selling direct? The barrel nut looks more like his design than the old style DW barrel nut.

>>but it looks identical to my Monson built 715<<

I'm beginning to realize that those of us who own a nice original Monson 715 should consider ourselves lucky! :)

Thank you all for the kind words! It really shoots well. As usual the standard comment (in my case at least) is that it is more accurate than I am. I ordered the 2.5" bbl as CZ showed 1 in stock but it hasn't shipped yet so we'll see. Yes, I suspect a big flash and bang especially with a hot load of Blue Dot. I have about 2 lbs of that powder which I am allocating carefully since who knows when it will be available again.
