Scored a Winchester Model 94AE for $350 yesterday. Rifle looks brand new, like straight out of box. Apparently it was a safe queen and never really got shot.

Well, I looked up the serial number today, and it was made early to mid 1986, based on last number for 1985 and last number of 1986.

I've been wanting a .30-30 for probably 20 years now and I finally scored one. My wife's happy about that because now she doesn't have to hear about me wanting one now. Lol.

Can't wait to start reloading for it.

Cool beans! Congrats.

I've a Model 1894 in .30WCF (.30-30) too. It's a 1922-made saddle-ring carbine. 20" barrel. The hammer spring is heavy, resulting in a high cycling effort, but I shoot my pistol-caliber carbines more often (Marlin 1894CS357, Browning B92 in .44mag and a Rossi 92 in .357) so I'm not going to modify it in any way, as I have the Marlin and the Rossi.

No rifle aficionado's collection is complete without a "thirty thirty", c'moane.

To use your own words: nice score! I have been thinking about getting a .30-30 carbine some day just haven't found the right one yet. Good to hear you finally did after nearly 20 years of looking! Enjoy!

I am full of envy! I know I shouldn't be but DANG that's a great rifle. Perfect cartridge too. A good 30-30 lever is always in the back of my mind.

I bought

a M-94 Winchester in .30-30 around 1971. The price, out the door, with a box of 175 gr ammo was $109. I ran one box of shells through it, observed the large bruise on my shoulder, and never fired it again. I sold it three years ago for around $400 if I remember correctly. The M-94 and it's copies over the years have probably killed and wounded more deer than any other type of rifle in the history of the Republic.

Big deal... so what?...

1 You got a gun that's ugly or at least waaaay outa design fashion.
2 You got a gun in an anemic caliber that can't kill anything.
3 You got a gun with a "tube" mag so you can't load really fast pointy bullets.
4 You got a gun that takes a day and a half to re-load.
5 You got a gun that won't hold an "'Murican Sniper" scope... never mind, see number 2 above.
6 You got a gun that will cost a fortune to have the barrel threaded. Poopy sights and weirdo mag making things worse.
7 You got a gun with no tacticool-cache whatsoever.

You got a gun that's pretty damn sweet and I dig the price. It'll be cool to look back one day and say "I got mine for $350 back in the day" and make your friends groan. And damn, but they're pretty to hang on the wall and just look at if it ever comes to that.

Todd.

You got a good rifle at a fair price. That is one of the budget "Ranger" rifles with cheaper sights and a stained hardwood stock. It'll shoot just as well as one of the nicer versions with walnut. But those typically sell for closer to $500 in that shape.

$350 IS AN AWESOME DEAL.
I have one that I got for moving a friend back in 1996. Pre Safety gun. It a great shooter and love to pack it in country.
Was at Cabelas 3 years ago. I picked up a "As New" could be 94 A.E I gave $350 out the door for it. Someone must have mis marked it. It was 99.99% new. They will not be going anywhere.

Enjoy your new weapon. They are my favorite rifle.

My 30-30 will not leave me 'till I leave this realm. My kids know it and my grandson knows it. I like the rifle and will keep shooting it ...until. :D

Great deal. I will not part with mine. Perfect for stalking through the brush and still hunting.
And it is a connection with my pioneer uncles.
