The real problem I see with the .260 is not that its a lacking cartridge, but its poor implementation. Its chambered in short action rifles which really do it a disservice. To take advantage of the case capacity, you need to seat those long 6.5mm bullets way out which turns a short action into a...
Turk quality is all over the place. They range from really nice examples, to something that looks like it was dragged across the country behind a camel, repaired with bailing wire and with excessive headspace to boot. The M38s were made in Turkey but as stated previously, a lot of turk rifles...
The only Turk that I would pay close to$250 for isn't really a turk, but a 'turked' 98/22. They used to sell for around $100 (bought 2 of them at that price)and there weren't really that many of them made, oh and they are on average probably the most accurate mauser in 8x57 ever produced...
Worrying about whether me and my wife will still be gainfully employed at the end of 2009 has pretty much put buying gun and gun accessories on hold. Wife works at a place where they just announced that 1000 or so employees will be let go.
My favorite manufacturers are Oberndorf : Factory code 42 or BYF
or BRNO: DOT, DOU
The RC rifles are easy to spot a mile away- they have a reddish color shellac finish (probably the same stuff put on mosins) and they don't have cleaning rods, sight hoods, or guard screws. The russians...
Unless the competition is to see who can make the most noise the fastest, a 10/22 will come up way short in any kind of typical competition (benchrest, silhouette, etc). You can dump several hundred dollars into one and it will shoot fantastic (about as good as a decent bolt action) but won't...
Look at the flipside=
everyone and their brother has been buying huge numbers of rifles and magazines for the last year. If an AWB goes into effect, the prices for resale may go up. On the other hand, the economy is getting more bleak every day- those extra two or three carbines and extra 200...
There is a way to fix a barrel with a pinned FSB but it involves filing/peening of the indexing notch in the upper receiver. Its a hit-or-miss proposition and buggers up the upper receiver where if you rebarrel, the new barrel will not index correctly. I would just send it back and have them...
The FSB is pinned to the barrel- there is no way the FSB is going to move unless it gets bent or the barrel gets bent- and judging by the fact that your handguards are still intact, I don't think you ra the rifle over with your truck.
Send it back. It needs fixing.
The Accumount mount is good too- the rings they send with the mount are garbage though. Never had my mount move on me. I would have bought a ST Marie mount, but Graf's dropped the ball on me- I sent my C&R license and they never answered any of my emails concerning how to get their C&R discount...
I bought my last remington in 1999- it was a rem 597 that couldn't go through an entire magazine without jamming. Probably will be the last remington that I'll ever buy.
I have a 1970s vintage 700 adl- new 700s aren't as nicely finished or as smooth. I shot serious trap for about 10 years with...
