Checked the 25 meter zero on my scoped AR today. It's accurate and on target with both the IMI ammo and my reloads so that was nice.
Then I checked the accuracy and zero on some new 223 reloads with the Savage bolt action at 25m and then 75 yards.
It sure likes those Sierra 63gr SMP bullets...
Took the Marlin XT-22 magnum out back to check the zero and accuracy of the Hornady vs CCI 30 grain ammo at 50 yards. Hot and muggy but both did OK with the Hornady being slightly better. It will be on standby for the next coon that shows up under the bird feeder.
There have been 31 clean, sized and trimmed pieces of 223 brass sitting on the bench just waiting for me to do something with them. Went down and primed them with some Remington 7 1/2 primers and loaded them with 24 grains of H335 with a Sierra 63 grain SMP over it.
Very therapeutic...
With the arthritis in both my wrists I am finding it harder to manually operate the slides on my semi auto pistols.
That's the main reason that revolvers are working better for me these days in my new found decrepitude.
I bought my Mini 30 in the early/mid 90's. From the serial number it's one of the early versions from 1986. I thought it would be a handy deer rifle and I mounted a small Burris 4x scope on it. With that and the reloads that it likes it will shoot 1" groups at 100 yards.
