Looked at the New Ruger American II YUCK!

Is it rugged? Is it simple? Is it light? Is it carriable? (with the smaller magazine) Is the trigger any good? Does it fit the shooter? Does it take sights./scopes easily? Is the cost reasonable? Is it reliable? ... and is it accurate? Other than that.... ;)

    Odd Annealing Question

Yes.... don't worry `bout it. Surprisingly -- as the brass ages/discolors w/ firing -- it will reappear.

    Beware of Vihtavuori Load Data.

Ditto same S&W Model 60 3" 357Mag as Post #33 above This time using just-cast/coated/loaded Lym 358156 LSWC (Ray Thompson's 38/357 Keith) (Note Pressure typo in image. Should 20,066 psi) Reduced to a 2" barrel (2.5 effective): 753 fps

    Beware of Vihtavuori Load Data.

The Lee 358-158 has a nose that's much too short/shank much too long. Requires an OAL of 1.365 for crimp grove. Casting up some Lyman 356156 LSWC now . . . . (real old Single Cav Mould in the woodpile)

    Beware of Vihtavuori Load Data.

The Lyman 358665 has roughly the same shank length inside the case as a Keith-type SWC. But I'll cast up some actual Keiths this evening just for the heck of it.

    Beware of Vihtavuori Load Data.

Take a look again at https://www.vihtavuori.com/reloading-data/handgun-reloading/?cartridge=41 Are you running a jacketed/plated SWC, or a cast lead SWC? (and what was your OAL ? )

    Leading Problems

As noted above, put the gas check on to protect the smaller GC shank edges left exposed/unsealed

Sizing Belted Magnums or (How I stopped worrying and embraced the false shoulder)

I could see a foreshortened case happening on firing IF . . . - The case/chamber was slick/lubed to where it didn't lock itself at front - The load was insufficient to blow the shoulder fully forward, but rather only expand the body (a delicate dance to be sure) But then I would merely size...

    Cutting Aluminum Cans

You can cut through the top/down into the side right at the pop top hole. Then just turn 90 degrees and cut the top off. No problemmo. (or just stab through the side -- and finish cutting the top off with the scissors)

Should I lube before sizing these?

Powder Coating (the baked-on kind) is its own lube. Save in extraordinary circumstances, no sizing lube req'd using Lee sizers
