I'm glad I'm not the only one. I bought a Kimber 1911 a few months ago from a friend, and it's given me fits, he said he could never shoot it worth a darn but it's got an amazing trigger, match barrel etc... I figured it must just be him :)
But lo-and-behold I'm finally starting to feel like...
I never shot my T38 until I finally bought 4 boxes (@$22/ea) from:
http://www.tacticalammunition.com/65-Japanese_c69.htm
and have been reloading that Privi brass ever since with my $20 (shipped) die set. When I need more brass I'll likely order from them again as I've had a hard time finding...
I grew up in a very gun un-friedly house, and later in life as I grew up I never really got the draw of recreational shooting -pardon the pun...
But that's me... since this March, I got the bug from these shows. I've gone from having a shotgun around the house from when I lived on the other...
bsdubois00 - Waaay too clean, I wouldn't trust it... I prefer precious perches for all my gear and supplies...OK, I'm actually jealous - Nice neat rig, can I come over and load at you place sometime :)
(plagiarized from castboolits.com) "Boolits= as God laid it into the soil, grand old Galena, The Silver Stream graciously hand poured into molds for our consumption. . . Bullets= Machine made utilizing Full Length Gas Checks as to provide projectiles for the masses"
EDIT - Uniquedot beat me to it!
Newb mistake
I bent my decapping rod in an old Herters die set and replaced with a piece of 8-32 all thread, used the old sizer ball / pin vise reamed out to accept the current replacement Hornady pins with the wide round/ flat base so theres no need to machine a pin vice into the all thread...
I had only remembered seeing the Tokyo arsenal marking and M with the arrow through it on the blade of the bayonet but I just dug it out and lo and behold a serial on the pommel, darn, had me excited there for a minute.
@ WW -Thanks W Wolf - great site -that's where I got most of my info :)
@ JT - You're a wealth of insight, great point on records/ arsenals being atomized those fateful days, good reminder that I need to check the "if I can't Google it it doesn't exist" thinking at the door sometimes. Original...
@ goon - I didn't think of it that way, as investment in experience, very good point. I just interpreted the OP to be about recouping money spent on upgrading and customizing.
There's certainly duds out there but any scope shouldn't even flinch at the recoil of a 223. If your looking for an investment I personally would look elsewhere, you could probably shoot your 1000 rounds for nothing though and resell for nearly the same price. Even if you took a "loss" and sold...
I'm in the same exact boat my friend, I've nearly worn out my interest in trying to precision shoot the 10/22s, even though I know I'll still shoot them the most... But like you I presume, I want to reach out a bit farther, faster, flatter - maybe without playing the "bad ammo" card with those...
