I started shooting when my wife and son lived out of country. Back then, missing 2 consecutive weekends would have been a dry spell for me. Now that they're back home, it's been 2.5 months and counting ...
Congratulations! Now you have to pay Uncle Sam taxes for all your income, worldwide.
Last time I bought a gun as a LPR, NICS delayed me once and told the FFL to collect evidence of 90-day residency. That was 3 years into my greencard and maybe 8 or 9 as a resident of MD. So, please don't...
Approval of I-130 doesn't mean that that green card is issued. The beneficiary of the I-130 petition still needs to file I-485 for Adjustment of Status, only after which he becomes a permanent resident. From what the OP wrote, it looks like he is in this particular stage.
Sir, I hope you were not serious, because such comments are probably not in line with THR. As a native of Taiwan, I have to say that I took offense at your thinly-masked political bashing.
If Wiki is to be believed, Ryugyong Hotel is only 330 m tall. Taipei 101 stands at 449.2 m ground to...
Taiwan military is currently getting T91 rifles.
Some units may still have T65K2. Reserve units may still have T65K1 or T57/M14.
Honor Guard drill rifles are chrome-plated M1 Garands. If that gets your blood boiling, do check out one of those change of guard ceremonies at Chiang Kai...
Guns are banned in Taiwan, so don't expect to find any real steel. Here are some airsoft/equipment shops that may interest you:

To be precise, the 3 characters mean Type 56. No reference is made to carbine. In fact, the official Chinese designation is Type 56 Semi-Automatic Rifle.
Get both!!! The ban is coming! The ban is coming :D
Seriously, if I can only pick one, I'd get the AR. It is more flexible as a gun platform. Depending on what upper you put on, it can go from short-range tacticool fun to long-range precision shooting.
IMO it's worth the trouble and the wait. The first CMP Garand I got had worn-out threads on the barrel and the gas cylinder. The problem didn't manifest itself until after a couple of range sessions, but CMP replaced it promptly.
They did send me an M1 Carbine, though. Of course I had to...
Incidentally, I also cleaned my AR last night. Feeling good, I went on to set up my tripod and posed it for a few gun porn.
It wasn't until I viewed the photos on my PC when I realized I forgot to put the charging handle back. :D
That's a Yugoslavian M24/47. I've been told that the marking means "Factory 44." It could have been a CZ Brno or FN, but with original markings scrubbed during the rebuild it'd hard to tell.
AIM used to be more accommodating to us MD customers. When I ordered my WASR, they simply removed the 30-round magazines and shipped the rifle to my FFL. Even gave me a little discount. Too bad they don't do that anymore.
As to private sellers, I guess many are just not inclined to take the...
Any marking on the receiver ring? Other places? These are the things that may improve its value if and when you decide to sell it later, but of course have nothing to do with "shootability."
Two handgun violations didn't keep the suspect from carrying illegally. So what's the use?
