This is a 1st Amendment issue, and there is lots of case law, although much of it has to do with still photography (IANAL). Same issue with video, though.
With extremely few exceptions, you have a right to photograph anything when you are in a public place, or when you are in a private place...
I'd ditch the badge. I'd try to be very polite and patient with those who freak, but I'd also be firm.
Perhaps have some business cards printed. White, with nothing on them other than this:
Present one of those, with a nice smile, to anyone who asks what you are doing carrying a gun.
...money down the drain. Then use 'em up.
Get involved with your local Republican party (there is no hope with the Democrats). The Repulicans are *not* mostly social conservatives, but the social conservatives tend to dominate the grassroots because they are the ones who get involved. Help...
...between hand-held semi-automatic and automatic rifles is nil. If anything, someone who just holds the trigger down in full auto is considerably *less* likely to hit their target than someone doing controlled rapid fire. But don't confuse her with the facts.
When the 1st Amendment was...
...never "xx risk of cancer". That's because if they showed you the true overall risk numbers you wouldn't pay so much attention. Again, it's *exactly* like what they do with guns: "having a gun in the house increases the risk of [insert extremely unlikely scare scenario here] xx times"...
Amazing how all the "freedom lovers" want the government to tell everyone else what kind of vehicle they have to drive.
CAFE standards are nothing but socialism. It's the exact same thing as every other wacked socialist plan and, guess what, like every other wacked socialist plan it...
F.A.G. bag = Fast Action Gun bag.
I believe the term originated with bags made for the Secret Service to contain submachine guns. Don't want to have the President's protective detail looking like something out of a dictatorship, y'know? :D
Thanks for the reponses so far. I admit I...
I have a really hard time seeing how the free exercise of any part of the Bill of Rights in public is "threatening".
I know a lot of people do though, and not necessarily just about the 2nd Amendment. Something to ponder, if you ask me.
I'm a newbie at CCW. My particular situation is that I can't carry at work, although I can lock it in my car. I have a short commute. I don't go out in public all that much. I live in a warm place and my normal attire is dress slacks and a short-sleeve shirt, sometimes worn tucked, sometimes...
Thanks for the heads-up. I was interested in one of those, but I'm not having that. I can't stand stuff that can't be serviced (unless it's readily available and throwaway cheap).
And if there isn't any off-site parking, which is often the case, then what?
Property owners don't have a right to expose their employees to unsafe conditions. Witness OSHA, smoking bans, etc.
Nor is the content of employee's private vehicles any of the company's business.
Your...
Thanks again for the replies.
I ended up buying a Kimber Warrior. It's like a Series 1, internal extractor, no firing pin safety. I put over 300 rounds through it, mostly FMJ but also 25 rounds of Speer GoldDots. No problems whatsoever. :D
To celebrate the new law...
I went to a presentation yesterday by a leading Florida RKBA attorney giving his analysis of the details of the new law. It was great!
The presentation was held at one of our local gun shops with an indoor range, Knight Shooting Sports. They cleared out the...
Pretty good story in the Norman Transcript: One dead in campus explosion
Note the complete lack of info as to the details. No name. Was it in a car, or not? What about the second device? Why do I suspect the Feds are in full downplay-anything-that-might-be-terrorism mode again?
Pay it. If you won't he's likely to send the gun back. Next time ask first. A number of transfer FFLs insist on collecting the tax, but many do not. It seems like the retail gun stores are more likely to want the tax. Maybe it's in part because they don't want to be harassed by the state...
