I own and shoot the original LCP no problem. It's snappy but I don't find it particularly unpleasant to shoot. The accuracy at SD ranges is decent. I pocket carry it all the time in a Sticky holster and it barely prints, especially in shorts. I also have a remora micro which is excellent for...
It really depends what you need the ammo for.
SD / HD, I don't need more than a few boxes that I already have.
SD / HD in case of a major urban disturbance... same thing. Get real, if you're in a situation where you need hundreds of rounds for SD,,, you're dead.
Plinking.. can wait.
Either...
“I consistently shoot the Steyr noticeably better. “
That’s what matters.
There can be more than one really good gun. And in most circumstances, YMMV is the king.
G26.
First, it made my G17 irrelevant - as it was way easier to carry and just as much fun to shoot.
Now, it is making my LCP somewhat irrelevant - I have finally found a holster that works for comfortable longtime IWB carry for me, and I shoot Glock way better.
Yesterday, I've rented a G43...
Ruger American 8637 (10 rd 9mm compact) is $447 on Bud's.
Glock 26 (10 rd 9mm subcompact) is $499.
That's roughly what, 10% price difference ?
Glocks are neither cheap nor expensive, they are fairly reasonably priced given their brand performance.
Glock has the name recognition and the reputation of quality and standing behind their guns.
Ruger’s quality is... uneven. But I know that they also will stand behind their product. And they make cheap yet conceptually great guns - LCP pretty much defined the pocketable .380 category.
Steyr...
You would be wrong, I picked Glock as my first ever handgun precisely - in part - because it pointed more naturally for me when I tried it in store vs other guns they had in the same price range.
I had no experience shooting handguns at that point and went with what felt better in my hand...
I just don't get the "bad Glock trigger" references. I've shot revolvers and friends' 1911 and for the life of me I don't see the night & day difference.
I point, pull the trigger, it goes "bam!" every time, and hits very close to where I aim. That's all I care about.
I love Glocks. Bang every time, don't mind running hot & dirty, plenty accurate, low maintenance, ugly and dependable.
Grip angle and "natural" pointing are matter of habit / preference. After seven years of shooting Glocks, I would constantly aim low with an LCP.
I've tried to IWB my G26 ever since I got it, but it never quite worked out. The KingTuk was very comfortable for the first hour or so - given that I found the right spot - but would start to get sore after a while, and adjusting it on the go was a PITA because of its two clips and widht. Remora...
I don't think lint would create any problems. On the other hand, LCP is a small handgun with tight internal spaces and small springs, and higher sensitivity to dirt accumulation.
When I first bought my LCP, it had to be sent back to Ruger because of severe feeding problems. On every mag, I'd...
I am doing this too, of course. That's 99% of my shooting. But I do believe that if I manage to keep all shots on the target with a mag dump, I am getting somewhere.
Anyway, the bigger point was, most people I encounter at the range can't even do what I do. Of course there are some who are far...
Sure. Trying to land as many shots on the target as possible while shooting as fast as possible is part of that. I am not saying that "spray and pray" is a good way for SD, quite the opposite. But in the real world scenario, who knows what can happen. I want to keep practicing until I land all...
LOL... so you are telling me that a mag dump would produce significantly better results with a G26 and you won’t have any strays dumping 11 rounds in under 4 seconds? Because then you are better than most of us.
The point here is, at 15 ft I can shoot an LCP just as well as any Glock, but with...
