Maybe you are correct, Jackal - but it's not apples to apples.
Some of the parts on the Armalite -
$69 Adjustable gasblock
$190 Timney trigger
$85 Raptor charging handle
$140 Luth stock
$140 Adjustable break
$189 Handguard
But you are correct; it's generally cheaper to build your own. I have...
Yeah, but for the rifle I wanted (see above post) I'm not sure it would have been cheaper. The only thing I will probably change out is the BCG, and I have several of those laying around. Check out the options on the Armalite.......I think it's even a better 'value' than the Stag 3G, and you...
Thanks for the replies everyone.......I just put money down on one at Bud's. I have been drawn to the Armalite M15 3GN 18" for a while, so that's where my money just went.
I've been thinking about getting into 3-Gun competition for a while now, and last year I bought a Beretta 1301 Comp...
Really no more than $1400. The more research I do on Armalite, the less I find out lol - I think I'm leaning towards the Colt CRE-18T (gen2 I think) the more research I do.......I know what's in the Colt, no clue about the Armalite. And this would be easy if BCM wasn't always out of stock :cuss...
Yeah.....maybe 100 fps? I just want an 18" or 20" semi-target sort of AR with BUIS. I already have my carbines and too many mags, as well as a ton of 5.56. If I didn't have so much invested in the platform, I would love to get in to 6.8 SPC, but I digress...
I've been looking at Colt, Stag and Armalite for an 18" AR to work as a plinker, but also as something I can stick a scope on and reach out between 150 and 250 yards.
Everything seems to be 14.5" - 16" carbine (or mid)........not a lot out there for an 18" or even 20". I don't know much about...
Different strokes....
I have several firearms that I bought NIB with the intention to NOT fire them. When my son was born 9 years ago, I realized that a lot (all) of the firearms I inherited from my family were in poor shape, and just how much I wished they had been in really good shape.....and...
Okay.....where can a person pick-up some of those Silvertips? As you are the OP, I am curios if you started this thread of "discussion" just to inform us that the 10mm IS better than the .45 ACP, cause that's what it's starting to look like?
They both work, whether using hot new loads, or old...
I don't know.....seems more like a 9x25 Dillon type load to me (I know it's .400 and not .356). I think of 10mm as being 160 - 200 gr, but that's just me. Underwood also has a 120 gr .45 ACP clocking in at 1420 fps, but I don't consider that a 'normal' load.
As always, just my .02
I have shot both rounds for years, and my feeling is this - if you can only have one handgun, between a .45 or 10mm (taking ammo availability out of the question for this thread) for pure "self-defense", i.e. 2 and 4 legged critters, I would go with a 10mm - no question. But, for stopping a...
I could be wrong (as always lol), but didn't this Colt mid-length get its start for the Canadian military a couple of years ago? If so, isn't this just them sending surplus, military contracted rifles to TALO to distribute in the U.S.?
OP, I understand you set the limit at $400......but man, add $29 more to that total and here is a steal - https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/38991/Firearms/Handguns/Smith+%26+Wesson/S%26W+Handguns/S%26W+M%26P9+17%2B1+9mm+4.25
Trey Gowdy would be a good choice for anything, including POTUS someday. He is the best defender of the Republic and sharp as a tack.......he's a rock-star in my book
Open 10 mags.....leave the other 40 in wrap, stored away somewhere (good investment). Then, take your wife and daughter to a range with those two new rifles and have fun with a few hundred rounds. Then do it again....
Easy decision - Tikka T3 LITE, but not sure about a 7mm-08 or .243 for elk ......... but I worship at the alter of the old .30-'06, so what do I know
MId-length and 1/8 twist......if the street price is around $750, it's a good base rifle - still too much anticipation for another AR with a stupid name o_O
