Here's another scenario:
You're allowed 500 rounds of ammo. Pick your own length of time that has to last for. You can have as many guns as you want, you don't have to own them now just pick them. But only 500 rounds. How do you allocate...
I'll take some pics in the am. I assumed, maybe wrongly, that whatever would take off the rust would also take off the blueing and re-blueing would be necessary.
I've acquired a Winchester Model 37 break-open single shot 20 ga from the 50s. It has been in my extended family and while I was pleased to get it, I was disappointed that it has been neglected for many years. I think it is mechanically fine and was in good condition when stuck in a closet for...
I've been searching for .30 M1 long range ballistics at say, 450 yards. Seems to me the drop would be extreme at that range, but I can't find any data. Any sources?
I'm looking for a good how-to on not just maintenance, but some restoration in bringing blades back that have been abused and sharpening. Obviously I'm not a knife expert - looking for more of a "fixing up old knives for dummies" (not that the knives are for dummies.... you know what I mean)...
I know this isn't specifically about firearms, but I wonder if in most places, had a car been stopped with that stuff in it, would there have been an arrest or detention? Assume the plates were legal.
The chart I looked at had it dropping about 100 inches at 500 yards with most of that coming between 400 and 500. That's eight feet so at the claimed 600-700 I would say you would have to be standing on a 20 ft platform to shoot level and get the bullet to range. Let's also remember the claim is...
You won't believe this. On a non-gun related forum, some nimrod has posted that his AK (with its Bulgarian 7.62x39 ammo) kicks up dirt at 600-700 yards within a foot of where his 7mm Mag kicks it up. The only way an x 39 will shoot 600 yards is if you run 400 then shoot :).
So I'm looking for...
I rotate them but this is the year for a new one. Ruger One rsi stainless. That's the Mannlicher stock with 18 inch barrel. In 7mm-08 and I will be using the excellent 140 gr managed recoil loads not so much for recoil, but because they perform better on whitetail size game in the dense woods...
I think the problem here is that "pwerful" is ambiguous and even if it weren't it is only one dimension of many. Why rank cartridges on one dimension? Like ranking cars on just horsepower, or wheelbase. If you have to ring a bell 400 yds away, which is more "powerful" at that moment, the .45-70...
I semi retired two. A Savage 99 .250 that has been in my family since the late '20s, and my first deer rifle, a 336 .35 Rem. Semi-retired means I get them out maybe once every 5 or 6 years and deer hunt with them.
