Several 5" 1911s, one being double stack, a 4" and a 3.5" LDA.
A 5" 1911 with an X300 Ultra.
Glock 17.
Glock 19 with a TLR-1.
Kahr PM9, P9, and K9.
Taurus Model 85.
That pretty well sums it up. Current carry guns are the G19, K9, and a 5" 1911. The 1911 with the X300 is only out of rotation...
I agree. The 19 is a great size IMO, on the small side for range/duty, but the large side for CC, so that's what I bought when shopping for a beater pistol.
I also bought a Streamlight (insight?) M3 at the time, and used it until I replaced it with a TLR-1.
At one point I realized the shorter...
Yes, however, to make that statement, you have to ignore the dashcam footage of the officer repeatedly saying "don't pull it out."
The carry permit wasn't mentioned before the shooting, only the gun. Yanez was wound up too tight, Castille kept reaching when told not to.
Before the dash cam...
As far as the utility of a Thompson is concerned, I agree with DPris. The "coolness" for mine wore off shortly after slapping an Olympic upper on a GNCGuns lower that uses Grease Gun magazines.
My two West Hurley AO Thompsons ate every round of brass-cased ammo I put in the mags. Numerous...
I would use a completely different type of magazine for 300BLK. It would be easy for me, since most of my mags are USGI with Magpul followers. If/when I get around to building a 300BLK, I'll use polymer magazines exclusively for it.
I used to carry a 1911, but with concealment being a priority at work, I've downsized to a K9. Instead of switching guns before going to work, the K9 is my usual carry gun.
I had a P9 for a while, I didn't care for the grip.
I use a belt from KT Mech. It's simply stiff nylon with the polymer cobra buckle, and it's double layered on one side. It's obviously inferior compared to an Ares belt, but adequate for a sidearm and two spare mags.
I don't care for the kydex/leather hybrids, since they tend to close up some...
I use a paint marker, start with 1 and work my way up. Numbered on the baseplate and side of the tube. For pistols, I number the left side of the tube, for rifles I number the right side. I'm guessing I do that so I can see the mag numbers when loading? I'm cross dominant, so I shoot long...
I agree.
When I was shopping for a beater pistol, I went ahead and got a Glock 19. Looking back, I wish I had got the G17 instead, and cut the grip down to the G19 size. The shorter barrel hasn't done much good since it's had a light hanging on it since I bought it.
I used a Saiga for a...
9mm. Most of the time a Kahr K9 since concealment is a priority at work. When concealment isn't much of a concern, I usually carry my Glock 19 or 9mm Spartan.
I carried .45 for years, but mainly because I prefer 1911s and that's the most common caliber for the flatform.
The Karh MK9 was mentioned, I prefer the larger (or not as small) K9, since I can actually get all of my fingers on the grip.
I had its polymer sister, the P9 and it had noticeably more muzzle flip, and a thinner grip I didn't really care for.
I grew to hate my PM9 due to the short and thin...
My daughter started shooting when she was 7, regularly when she was 8. Gun safety was started years before then with nerf guns and such. She had better trigger finger discipline than 90% of Hollywood.
My former stepson is 3 weeks older than her, and was no where near ready, so my daughter...
Rock River offers a CAR 9mm, either complete or as a complete upper. Current guns have a dedicated 9mm lower rather than a drop in block. Model 1 sales offers a CAR upper as well.
I'd probably just piece one together myself. I used an RRA upper way back when options were limited to Colt...
I'd have to agree with the above posts. Even though I have access to a bridgeport mill at work and can do the machining myself, I think I'd just buy another lower and be done with it.
No lost lunchbreaks, standard FCG pins, does your rifle have the large or milspec pivot pin?
Removing the...
