Right around $1k is what I've been seeing them at. Not sure if they're all selling at that price.
The pre-lock and shorter barrels are what's really going up. $1500 and way up depending on box, papers, etc.
I've loaded mild 45 super for use in my 625's (and glock 21 that's setup for it)
I don't go crazy though.
I use power pistol to push a 230xtp to ~1000fps and a 215wfn to ~1100 fps
I know some people go a lot harder/faster with 45 super but data for it is a lot harder to verify than 45acp or...
The 329 scares me.... My M69 with full 44 mag is plenty for me and it's several ounces heavier than the 329
A buddy has a scandium 360, one full power 357mag out of that was enough for me. 38+P was just right.
Yep, I usually load mine by hand, but I have a few tools for unloading.
The BMT tool is awesome for unloading, a quick twist pops out all the empties.
The "original" style steel de-mooner is a bit cumbersome to use, but it works.
I also use a 3D printed loader/unloader set that I made and it...
I like Smith 625's(and 325's), but the prices have gotten a bit crazy on them lately.
I love moonclips and pretty much use them exclusively, but auto rim works in the smith's as well.
Mine is a well worn straight stock 39m mountie. My dad's step dad gave it to him in the early 70s. The first 22 I ever shot. Now it belongs to me and my son. Basically 4 generations of squirrel hunting and target shooting with this rifle.
Great rifles for sure.
At that price I'd buy that rifle every day and twice on Sundays. At that price it's a cool, different rifle that I wouldn't hesitate to use as a shooter. I have a 1959 Mountie model that I love. Model 39's are awesome.
The Robertson Trading Posts grip adapters are well made. They're not quite as good and well fitting as a Tyler T-Grip, but they do work well and are much easier to get.
I had one on a 66-2 that I used to own. I did contour the inside a little to fit closer to the frame and grips
They're harder to find and more expensive these days, but I love round butt finger groove Ahrends combats for my Smith snubbies. They fit the hand and point well for me.
I do have a set of VZ grips on the way for my 2 3/4" M69. It has a tendency to smack my thumb pretty hard with heavier loads...
I have 6 Kimber 1911s, and wouldnt hesitate to buy another one.
-Blued Gold Match from 97-98
-Stainless Gold Match from 2000
-Royal from 2000
-Ultra Carry II ~2012
-Pro Raptor II (not sure of year)
-Custom LW from 2024
I haven't had a minutes trouble with any of them. IIRC the Ultra had a...
My shooting buddy picked one up a few months ago. It was easy to consistently ring the 10"x14" steel at 100 yards with the iron sights, and much softer shooting than I had anticipated.
He's mounted a green dot holosun on it now, I'm curious to try it with that
That's interesting.
I currently have 6 1911's that are all 100% stock. I've owned 4 glocks (Still own 3)
The 1911 triggers have all been lighter and crisper than the Glocks out of the box.
The heaviest 1911 trigger was 4.75 lbs with a clean break. The lightest Glock trigger was ~6 lbs with a...
I'm not a fan of stock Glock triggers either. I don't like shape of the face of the trigger and the "mushy" feel just before they break. I can shoot ok with them, and they're perfectly functional, I just don't care for them.
I have a G19 and a G21, both gen3, and they both felt about the same...
The 17-9 msrp is over $1k
I bought a nice 17-4 with box/papers a few months ago for $750 (on GB after shipping and fees etc)
It had target grips too, but I swapped them for a set of Ahrends
"This form is used to obtain permission to temporarily or permanently move your registered National Firearms Act (NFA) machine gun, short barreled rifle or shotgun, or destructive device interstate. Persons other than qualified federal firearms licensees (FFLs) or government agencies are...
Yeah that first part is not true. There are no forms to submit when travelling with a suppressor, as long as it's one of the 42 free states where they're legal. Just keep your tax stamp and paperwork with it and you're good to go.
I picked up a couple of suppressors last year, and I wish I'd done it years ago. I got one rimfire and one 30 cal centerfire.
It's great being able to shoot my 22 pistols and rifles in the backyard without bothering the neighbors.
And when I shoot my bolt rifles or ARs, I can shoot for hours...
Simplest thing would be to make some spacers to put between the stock and buttplate, especially if it's just temporary. Stack washers, wood etc. Someone with a 3D printer could make them easily.
That said, I'm 5' 10.2" per the Dr, and my son is 5' 11".
Neither of us has issue with the M1...
