Have experienced one home invasion without injury years ago. Am now 70% disabled. I think across the room distances are all I can expect. Am 84 yrs old. My thought is to get the stuff I want before I can not whether due to availability or regulation. Have had pumps, SXS, OU and SAs. Believe...
Bought a SIG 230SL online, "as is", no indication it was defective. Take down lever was broken. Sent it to SIG for repair. SIG said they did not support this pistol anymore. Sorry customer service. Will not buy SIGs in the future. Internet searches by my LGS guy, revealed the problem is common...
I asked my LGS for some #4 Buck shot. The clerk gave me what he said was #2 Buck. I did not check before I left the store. It was #2 steel shot, 3" shells at 1400+velocity. Will this suffice for a home defense round?
I recently began using a 257 Weatherby. I think it is an outstanding cartridge for Texas. Flat shooting and low recoil. Need ear protectors, should use them regardless of what you shoot. The Vanguard is a good shooting rifle and not too expensive. Do not scrimp on the scope.
Too many to post pictures. (OK, I admit I do not know how to do that.) I have Gun Digest:1944 thru 2005. Larry Wilson Colt books, 2 books by Skeeter Skelton and a bunch of others. Been gathering since 1955. Disabled now and should get rid of them. Too hard to do.
My 270 Weatherby MKll BAR shoots MOA with 140gr factory Accubonds. Does not like 130 gr at all. I bought it used. Had hardly been shot. Wanted it because of caliber. Stock has been shortened so as to be used with winter clothing. Got a good deal I could not turn down. A great rifle to use from...
Because of neck surgery, I must shoot in a Heads-up position. I use a 20 and 12 ga, Browning A5. I got a Ducks Unlimited 20 ga and use a 22" bbl. Its like shooting an O/U with a 26" bbl. Very lively gun and not too heavy and it is pretty. Regardless of what the gas operated do, I think the...
I had Ranger Point Precision make me up a 327 from a Marlin 32-20 when they were still doing custom rifles using pistol cartridges. It turned out to be a beautiful piece. Shortly thereafter Henry mad a seriously less expensive piece. Rifle/pistol combinations are cool.
I had an older blue one and a brand new stainless. . Put a buffer and an accu-trac on new one in hopes of better accuracy. Well you know what they say about "Hope in one hand.....". I wasted a bunch of money on the thing and just got frustrated. My mini -30 is much better. I expected similar...
That mini-14 must be a crap shoot. I have had 2 that shot minute of a pie plate. Many speak of how good theirs is. I would not have another even though everything about them is attractive to me except their accuracy. Bummer.
I sent my 357 and my 44 Browning 92s to Dawson's Doubles on consignment. It should go up sometime this week. My gunsmith said it was the best 92 mfg. I never used either so I cannot tell you how it shoots. The 44 is unfired. I have never had a bad Browning anything. If they were stainless, I...
We shot some 62 gr. green tip in my Weatherby Vanguard while zeroing with various 55 gr. loads. It never hit the paper. It shot minute of a pie plate in my mini-14. Now I have all this green tip and it will not group in my rifles.
I did not find any Chicom replicas for any 400. I paid what was needed to get one because I wanted one. I expect the replicas to be more robust because of modern steels. My friend has one he uses for CAS. Says it works great. It probably gets a better workout than most and it is holding up well.
The finest, most robust, reliable semi auto you can find. No plastic parts, no neoprene rings, no nothing to impede operation. I have 12,20 and 12 magnum. Have to shoot in head up position because of plate in my neck. Keep 'em clean and lubed, they won't let you down.
