I loaned my first edition hard-bound to a friend. I did retain the cover-slip. Soon thereafter, he departed this earthly plane of his own volition, and I didn't know his family well enough to ask for its return. I figured it was Fate.
For years, I searched Amazon for an affordable replacement...
I keep a perforated container of silicon gel in my safe:

LOCKDOWN Silica absorbs moisture from the air inside a vault or storage area...
Moon clips are the greatest thing that ever happened to double action revolvers. Positive ejection, rapid loading, ease of carrying ammo.......why the heck would you want to lose those qualities?
Not a great photo, but my "scouted" .308 600 Mohawk is simply the best whitetail medicine I've discovered. It's wicked fast, and minute-of-deer accurate. Pictured here (admittedly, a lousy photo) wearing its Burris Scout scope, the rifle, when conventionally mounted with a Leupold 3x9 fired from...
The term for having enough focusing ability to make out small bullet holes at distance, or any details at distance, is "resolution."
Most any spotting scope will have the magnification to see objects in the distance, but only quality spotters have the resolution to allow one to focus properly...
Consider your spotter can be used for far more than simply shooting. As an avid naturalist, hunter, wildlife-watcher, birder, and amateur astronomer, I use my quality Vortex spotter for many more uses than shooting (at which it excells).
Thinking along those lines might help justify putting...
Redfield was an old, reliable company, too. Then they went out of business in the early part of this century. They've since been resurrected by Leupold, but it's not the same, original Redfield company.
I'm a fan of both Vortex and Leupold.
To those frustrated with the lack of ammo available, I ask: What would you ask for? A limit on private citizen's right to quantity of purchase of ammunition?
To you I say, Be careful what you wish.
Interesting to note the two models of Zhumell spotting scopes are being sold at right fair pricing. I have used both models and find them of good quality. I bought the 20-60 x 80mm a couple years ago for $199. Now being sold at $104 with free shipping.
The larger 22-68 x 90mm used to be...
I'm banking on the market recovering, and .22lr ammo getting back to where it's been. I did call my local Boy Scout council, as I know they're struggling to supply ammo for their training purposes. I offered to donate two .22lr bricks to them. I told them if there were more needy nearby...
First thing I'd do is experiment with a variety of ammo. Each .22 rimfire firearm is subject to preferring a certain ammo. It's like gravity, it's the law.
My SLR-95 with the Ace folder and replacement handguard to facilitate addition of a Surefire light. That's a Tapco gas tube to allow the EOTech mounting.
The trigger on this rifle is amazingly smooth, considering it's an AK.
I must admit to enjoying some Schadenfreude. So there's another opportunity for a learning experience from this thread. Just look up the meaning of the word.
Good luck, LJ.
How did you tell the age of the rattler?
By the number of rattle segments? If so, they gain a segment each time they shed their skin, and they shed more than once, annually. FYI
.44 Special is an entirely worthy cartridge, much akin to the .45ACP. Shot in an N frame with no more than a four inch barrel, it's an worthy combat revolver.
Me? I like the speed of loading/unloading a .45ACP revolver with full-moon clips. FMJs naturally feed smoothly into the chamber while...
