Simple Green is what I've used. That's the only non petroleum-based degreaser I have firsthand experience with. It works. I still use some petroleum based solvents, but less so than I used to.
NM is going off the deep end. The Peoples Republic of Illinois has had a 3-day waiting period ever since I can remember. Unfortunately people get used to it. And as always, the criminal element does not recognize the law, so they don't have a waiting period.
Well, yes... sort of. Your description of greater focus and attention to improve your technique with a less than ideal trigger has merit. However, I wouldn't say that a great trigger will hurt your marksmanship. We should be practicing the fundamentals you describe all the time with any firearm.
Maybe so, but even a "good" barrel will need recrowning sooner or later. Often sooner, like right out of the box... if you're serious about a good crown.
This is would be a good point in the thread to read the OP's original question. The crux of the matter is what type of crown people prefer...
Nope, before the pandemic panicked everyone, the price of a Mini-30 was well within reasonable... perfectly inline with inflation. I can't help you. At this point you'd have to pay me as a private tutor. But let's not. Too much work for a volunteer forum.
Have you considered you might be...
Careful, you're not looking past the end of your nose, and your doing it in front of God and everybody... a permanent record. Well, that is as long as this forum exists, and/or as long as the Internet Archive Wayback Machine exists.
Prices and availability of guns and ammo have gone up and...
And just like that, this thread goes off the rails on a crazy train. So I think it's time to remind the members what the OP's question was.

Several years ago my old girlfriend had one like the OPs as a nightstand gun. Her dad gave it to her. Nice shooter! Well, my girlfriend wasn't old then. She's not old now. I guess I should have said former girlfriend.
Yes, that is correct. The Vympel plant is in Amursk, and Amursk is in Russia. It's easier for me to cut to the chase and use the term "Vympel" when referring to the plant.
A good crown will help nearly any rifle. And that's because inexpensive bargain rifles don't have a good crown from the factory. There are a lot of measures one can take to make a mediocre rifle into a good shooter... life by a thousand cuts, if you will. But the question was about crowning.
I normally carry 15+1 in my S&W, and a spare 15-rnd mag. In this day and age we can't possibly anticipate every scenario. It's no burden to carry an extra mag. The worst cases have already happened to many people. Mostly situations where there was no good guy with a gun was there to stop the...
Hey, great shooting! Ruger's American Ranch is pure delight in any caliber. Some kind of magic. I've seen most of the action with them chambered in 7.62x39, but I really like 6.5 Grendel. Very nice.
I cut my Mini-30 barrel down a bit from 18.5" to exactly 18". I Then rented a couple tools, including a facing tool and an 11º crowning tool from 4D Reamer Rentals. It turned out really well and it did improve performance. I could have used a 45º or something else, as long as it's done...
I've used Rem Oil for so long, the metal cans it used to come in have changed to plastic bottle. I still have an old metal squirt can about the size of 3-in-one oil. And I still have a clear plastic 1 oz bottle with a syringe on top to get into tight places. I use a few other oils, but Rem...
Yeah, no meaningful difference even out to 200 yards. If a whitetail, hog, or a two legged varmint is DRT after being hit with a good bullet in x39, it can't be any more incapacitated than dead. And 7.62x39 is not inherently inaccurate, or less accurate than 7.62x51. It depends on the brand...
