These counterfeits happen with name-brand clothing too. My brother bought a Spyder brand ski jacket. When he eventually sent it back to Spyder to fix a zipper under their lifetime warranty, they informed him it was a counterfeit.

Thanks for the link to the Hammond Game Getter website. That sounds like a nice cheap option and great idea. However, he does not list .50 caliber as something that is available, plus I don't know how this can be adapted to an existing black powder gun that does not have a cartridge...
Thanks Ironhand. I have a couple of Contenders, so that's exactly what I am doing. I just placed an order for a custom .50 caliber muzzleloading barrel from Bullberry that will use the .22 blanks. However, I have to wait months for it. In the meantime I thought I'd experiment.
Thanks for your comments.
The plunger is not at the very back of the dart like you may have assumed. The back of the dart is rigid and does not move. The plunger is the orange piece that is totally encased inside the clear plastic tube, and has a copper-colored primer sitting just to the left...
I'm experimenting with shooting 100 grain .50 caliber darts out of a muzzleloader. An image of these darts is attached. These darts are used to inject drugs into large animals (500 lbs. plus) at distances ranging from 20 to 50 yards. I'm not happy with the current dart guns out there...
If you have his mailing address and it's not a P.O. Box, then can't you knock on his door? If not, I'd see if his phone number is listed in any book and call him. I've gotten permission to hunt by making a phone call and talking to a landowner I've never met. Much better than a letter. I've...
I can think of only two new cartridges in the last 25 years that have become undeniable overwhelming successes. Those are the .17 HMR and the .40 S&W.
Every other one has had only limited success because they don't do anything appreciably better than existing firmly established...
I've read in the forums that the Federal and Winchester small pistol primer has a softer cup than CCI, and that the Federal is the softest. Nothing about magnum vs. standard. If I had to guess I'd guess they use the same cup.
Thanks for letting me know Andrew. I appreciate it. I never thought about downloaded files being cached by the browser before. I should have suspected it, because when I tried it and got the cached version also, the download happened instantaneously. Normally it takes a few seconds.
One nice thing about living near sea level like you do is you get higher velocity than at high elevation with a spring airgun. Less dense air gets compressed by the piston, so lower pressures. CO2 guns are not affected by this, and with pump-up pneumatics you can compensate by just giving it...
As far as I'm concerned, there is no reason to leave any brass on the ground. What you don't use or sell you can take to a scrap metal dealer for cash. I think of it like nickles or dimes laying on the ground, or quarters for rifle brass. You'd pick up hundreds of them, wouldn't you?
Of...
Hi Andrew. That's weird. After reading your comment, I downloaded it again from that link and discovered the same thing as you; it was the older version! I checked the date of the file on my server and see it is the newer version!
So... what is going on? I'm going to GUESS that since you...
Metric measurements
I've now changed my ballistics program to also handle some metric measurements, according to the specs Andrew Leigh from South Africa gave me in post #22 of this thread.
He said to leave velocities in fps, but change yardage range to meters, inches to cm, Fahrenheit to...
Wow, I've been shooting for almost 50 years and I never heard of spin drift before. Interesting; thanks for this bit of knowledge.
I think when Andrew mentioned that speeds should be km/h he was referring to the 10mph wind drift column in my calculator. He said he'd like velocities to...
Metric conversion
I have three questions about adding a metric option to this program:
1. For a metric version, do we still want to specify bullet weight in grains?
2. I assume muzzle velocity and retained velocity should be expressed as meters per second, right?
3. How should energy...
You're right Andrew; I need to add an option for that and convert the units to metric. I'll work on it and post here when it's completed and ready to download.
I think when this thread was started, it was simply giving some valuable information on where products are made. The premise was that if you have a choice of an American-made product or a foreign one, and if the price and quality is similar, buy American. It was giving us the information to do...
