I've googled this a couple times. Most of the time I get stuff no more detailed than comparing a Ruger mini14 to an AK to an AR of some sort.
If you weren't worried too much about cost or NFA silliness, what would you pick as an optimum home defense rifle set up?
I'm thinking a 10in...
I dry fire about 30 min a day, mainly for USPSA competition. Even if you are looking for more tactical training, books by Ben Stoeger and Steve Anderson are the best I've found.
Most of the coated bullet makers make a lube groove bullet like the MBC. I've shot about 20k of them. I'm very happy with them. If you have a gun with a short chamber, like a CZ, the Acme doesn't need to be seated as deep. This gives you more options for brass head stamps you can use for...
National reciprocity doesn't work as long as the Federal Gun Free School Zone Act is in place. This is something we need to repeal. I know lots of people say they just ignore this. I prefer not to ignore things that can put me in federal prison...

If you are loading for plinking, don't use FMJ. You are throwing away money. Use coated. Acme, Blue Bullets, Bayou Bullets, SNS Casting, Leatherhead bullets, Precision bullets, Black Bullets. I've...
I own a CZ85 (Ambi control CZ75), an SP-01 Shadow, and a P-07. For a general purpose defense and "plinker" you can't beat the P-07/09 model. For more high speed competition us, the SP-01 is one of the best guns in the world. The CZ75 is best for anything but is fine for everything.
If you can get into TCGC you can shoot almost anything. Douglas Ridge Rifle and Pistol Club and Chehelem Valley Sportsman's club are good places to look into.
I shoot my Shadow about 14k rounds a year. I have replacements for:
Every spring in the gun
Extractor
Slide stop
Firing pin
As a casual user, I'd have:
Extractor and extractor spring
Slide stop
Trigger return spring (get the reduced power trigger return spring from Cajun Gun...
The Omnibus Crime Control act of 1990, restricts carry of firearms within a 1000 ft of a school. One of the exceptions is if you have a concealed carry license issued by the state the school is in. Per this link, BATFE doesn't believe reciprocity meets this requirement...
Don't get the P-07 Duty. They stopped making them 2 years ago. I love my P-07. CZs have lower bore axis. Makes it easier to recover for follow up shots. As a fighting gun, I would take a CZ P series over any Sig. Though I've only shot their metal gun. They are accurate and...
