    Why Own a Snubby?

    That, John, is eye opening.

    Why Own a Snubby?

John, it was your analysis that caused me to retire my 642 from primary carry--that, and the facts that my 10-shot Ruger Compact was about the same size, and that i could better achieve a balance of speed and precision with it. Your extrapolations led me to decide to not carry a large-cap...

    Things to Not Do

Yeah, the decrease in reported rates is illusory and misleading, and a lot of that has resulted from relaxed enforcement.

    Why Own a Snubby?

That, of course is a real possibility. I wouldn't want to bet my life on it, however, I do not. I would not expect to be abtrying to play moderatorle to change magazines during a violent criminal attack. As i have said, I carry 8+1. I would prefer 10+1. Enough/ I hope I never find out...

    Why Own a Snubby?

No. How can anyone reasonably disagree with the well established concept that what happens after an event has occurred is completely independent of the probability that the event will occur?

    Why Own a Snubby?

The subject of confusional probability, which is at the core of the discussion here, is usually covered in second level college classes on probability theory. In simple terms, it has to do with "what is the probability of B occurring given that A has already occurred.

    Why Own a Snubby?

Why do you believe that that is "the most likely scenario"? Data that we have seen here in previous discussions of this subject. indicate that one is at least as likely to be attacked by two or more people as by one. And if a one on one encounter were the most likely, would you really think it...

    Why Own a Snubby?

That's just plain silly. None of us should assume that we will ever need to use or threaten deadly force. But that can happen. Personally, I think it prudent to be prepared for an attack by two perps (two to three is most common) moving at Tueller speed (five meters per second); to need more...

    Why Own a Snubby?

That may explain a lot. True for all of us.

    Why Own a Snubby?

That was the gist of your post 96.

    Why Own a Snubby?

No, you will have to compromise. But it makes no sense at all to choose a weapon upon which your life may depend on the basis that you will likely never have to use it.

    Why Own a Snubby?

When I first bought my 642, I thought that the fact that it would slip into a jeans pocket, and the fact that a lot of people were looking at J frames in the store, made it a good choice for concealed carry. I knew nothing about SD or defensive shooting. I then bought a Ruger 9MM compact for...

    Why Own a Snubby?

It is always better to get advice and instruction from a competent source face to face where there is the opportunity to ask questions. What are your split times?

    Why Own a Snubby?

True--but that has absolutely nothing to do with what might need should the event occur.

    Revolver Resurgence-?

I doubt that unit sales data are made public, for competitive reasons. Publicly held companies report revenues, earnings, etc. by reporting segment, which would not be helpful. i would guess, that, too, if only because of the price difference between a semi-auto and a good revolver.

    Why Own a Snubby?

Just to cite one thing: "f I pull this I'm going to empty it" is a terrible idea, and one ho has posted it has created Exhibit A for the prosecution and the plaintiff.

    Why Own a Snubby?

Stop, listen, and learn. I referred to discussions among law enforcement, attorneys, and recognized trainers, some of whom are members here. Research some of the literature, review some of the threads, and if you ever have to draw in earnest, don’t touch that hammer.

He is fun to listen to, but his message is not very realistic.

    Why Own a Snubby?

I cannot see how either of those is true for a DA/SA revolver. BUT--- There are a number of cogent reasons to never shoot single action in self defense unless long-range precision is needed, and to carry DA-only revolvers for defense. This subject has been discussed here on THR at some...

    Why Own a Snubby?

There is an important downside. That spring is there for a reason. That is strongly discouraged for defensive shooting.
