What is on my short list to Santa? More reloading supplies. I don't really need any new firearms although a Mini-14 would be nice, instead I need to reload more to shoot what I already own more often.
I did go shooting the Labor Day weekend. I am trying to get ready for the Colorado SB Silhouette State Match later this month. I went to both the local gun range that I belong to and I took a trio up to the NRA Whittington Center to do a bit of shooting up there. It was a good weekend.
I saw the news and to be honest, "who cares?" I will keep going to my LGS, Sportman's Warehouse or Cabelas locally. With the rise of internet sales I can get anything else that is not avaialble locally.
I say good riddance to Dick's Sporting goods.
I was a victim of a break in and the thieves, the snatch and grab type, grabbed some jewelry that was not secured. An inexpensive gun safe was enough for them to keep going. I have no doubt someone knowing what they are doing can break in easily.
For me it is the .22LR. I am constantly training for small bore silhouette which is a whole bunch of fun shooting animal shaped steel plates off of a rail.
I posted some photos last night that were victims of the software update. I will try reposting them when I get home.
For me that nice thing about steel is I can cut a section that gets shot up and weld in a new piece. I have even considered welding on a piece of angle iron to deflect errant rounds.
I used PVC for the prototype of my stand. It worked quite well until it got shot. It splintered badly. I like using PVC for projects like cleaning rod storage tube, but if they get shot they have a tendency to shatter. For me at least that is true. Your mileage may vary.
Very cool! I generally feel more comfortable working in steel than wood so it was my go to material. I have another photo of it broken down sitting in its storage box. The base is made so the feet come out and it can adjust for different widths so of I wanted to I could use another target stand...
If golf is not your thing perhaps photography might interest you? Outdoor nature photography might be something you could enjoy? You could hunt for animals with a different goal in mind.
Bead blast the parts and have them parkerized? I know that damages the original finish but think how good it will look with a nice and new parkerized finish.
