This popped up in a facebook link and looks bogus to me, and a look around THR I didn't see anything. Is there any truth to this? http://reagancoalition.com/articles/2013/why-is-california-seizing-legally-purchased-guns.html
Which 100 yards? The 100 where he shot a precision smiley face (OK, maybe 100 feet...), or the 100 where he missed the rather large helicopter running a mag empty? Of course if you watch close enough, he missed that rather large ocean behind it as well. Guns are apparently more effective indoors.
Hey, try to not be like that other show, you know, the one with the quotes, "I forgot to load it" when facing alligators... Good show, but that's just dumb to not check your ammo when fighting gators already in a bad mood. Don't be those guys! At least if you DO run out of ammo, that muskrat...
Huh? I can't find that one. Do you have a source? I DO see a minor conflict, though... The hunting regs http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/pwdpubs/media/cs_bk_k0700_284_2013_2014.pdf page 76/77 show a license required for all, yet another source...
True to a point. I DO own an S&W folder I carry regularly. For a cheap knife ($20ish), it has been excellent over the years. I beat it up, give it a new edge, and it's back to work. So, it's fair to say with the imported "brand name" knives, it's a matter of luck - I got lucky, I know.
But... how long have they been battering down bathroom doors in riot gear with teens in the shower and holding home owners at gunpoint over reloading supplies, spent shells, and 1 dud 12 gauge shell??
Anyone who didn't read the article needs to do so. The amount of physical damage to the house, emotional damage to the family, ridiculous over-use of manpower... 30 officers in full riot gear based on a ticked ex-wife whose complaint was found to be without merit?
I find the critters where I shoot hogs to be, uh, odd... Just a couple nights ago I shot a hog with a 30-06 and before the smoke cleared about 20-30 seconds later a small buck walks up about 25 yards from us with the "Sup?" look on his face. I kept the light on him as he moseyed along a drainage...
They will always be in charge. You might lure them into the area with feeders, but that takes time. Scents, calls, doodads, are all over rated. They work when hogs are interested and already on site. No pigs? All the toys on the market won't bring them in.
Start by looking for rooting of the...
He doesn't sound "lost" to me. He might not have found his way out of the woods, but he sure knows his way around. Finding food as "easy" as he was, he just might not have been in the same hurry others might have been. The cold may be a different story...
Don't overlook the word "illegal". If a group of gun owners gathered like this, acted carelessly like this, endangered others, you bet they'd need to be locked up AND punished. That's not what we're about as responsible gun owners and those clowns make the rest of us look bad.
2 thoughts come to mind...
1, in a "buy back", what happens if a gun you reported as stolen is turned in? Do you get it back? Do you get compensated? Hmmm...
2, as for the zero tolerance thing in school - if a piece of toast looks enough like a gun to get a kid expelled the same as actually...
I watched the video this morning and it made the bikers look like biker thugs. Could be. Could also have been the suv driver was antagonizing them and started the whole thing. We don't know where this started based on the story or video as the video shows a work in progress. Provided the suv...
OK, Mickey G (MCgunner :D ), where abouts are you? I'm an hour south of Houston (Van Vleck/Bay City live/work) and know firsthand what you're talking about a/c wise. This is part of my curiosity of folks living off the land - it would never work for me! I'm a country boy in a small town with no...
Well, Bou, thanks for all the info! There' s some interesting reading... No helicopters? Beavers seem to be a huge nuisance yet you still need to follow several guidelines to control them? Here in Texas, you get ridiculed for NOT shooting a hog on sight!
I always figured you guys had issues...
Does the car have bullet holes in it? That alone would make me rethink things. In Texas, I've never stumbled onto an abandoned car in the woods that hadn't been shot.
For folks like Caribou and others living off the land, what are the rules in hunting? Can you only kill deer/caribou in season and with a license like the rest of us mortals? Les Stroud always states "In a survival situation, all animals are fair game". Does that fly living off the grid as well...
Yep, Sunny, that's the typical burglar mentality and I hate to hear it happened. Your case is the "normal" routine. It's the higher end burglars that look for hidden safes, fake vents, and such. My thought on the door won't stop everybody, but it could stop a bunch who aren't pros. I even...
