Here's my only AR-pattern gun - a 9mm pistol I finished earlier this month and have had to the range a couple of times - very fun to shoot standing at 25 yards. I bought a complete Foxtrot Mike 8.5" pistol ($702 at Brownell's) and added:
1) Samson Mfg fixed front sight set (HK style), fixed...
I'm in the process of getting my first AR9 with a 7" barrel. You can check out the ballisticsbytheinch site and see that the velocity increase going from a full-size pistol barrel (around 4") to a 7" or 8" barrel gets you a definite velocity increase, but less than 150 fps in most cases. So I...
Normally I carry a Glock 42, but switch to a Kahr CW380 when I want maximum concealment. The CW380 (carried AIWB in a trigger-guard holster on a static cord - no belt loops or clips) is undetectable under a T-shirt, even a slightly-snug one, even if hugged by a gun-phobe in-law relative.
I went mostly the other way. I started shooting DA revolvers a few decades ago. I lived most of my life in a no-issue CCW state, so I didn't have much interest in carry guns. After a while I added some modern single-actions (Blackhawk and Single-Six) and a Winchester 92 in 357 magnum and that's...
NRA and SAF because they do different things. NRA's strength is keeping gun restrictions from becoming law. SAF's strength is suing to overturn or limit restrictions after they've become law.
I'm a life member of the California Rifle & Pistol Association (the CA state NRA affiliate) because I...
Three:
1) A carry handgun gun to shoot at 9" paper plates at 21 or 25 feet (I currently do this with 4 different Glocks)
2) A target handgun to try to shoot small groups at 30 feet (I currently do this with a Buckmark and Ruger Blackhawk)
3) A "rifle" to try to shoot small groups, standing...
Common sense told me that there has to be a notification period. I have one of these cards and I plan to continue to use it (it's my main card, default card for Amazon, etc) until the monthly statement no longer says NRA or they send me a non-NRA replacement. At that point, it'll become my...
The adapter is rock-solid and very nicely made and finished. I suspect Copper Custom sells out pretty quickly whenever they get a batch of these. I got lucky - I only checked their site maybe 2 or 3 days before they had some to sell. They are worth the $$$.
Hopefully, Ruger makes a "Charger"...
Here's mine:
Copper Custom adapter
Phase 5 buffer tube
UltraDot 4MOA red dot in 1" high rings
KAK micro Flash Can (just to look awesome)
Volquartsen target hammer (to cut trigger pull in half)
I already had the UltraDot, rings and Flash Can, so this was a pretty cheap project. I used a Dremel...
People who rotate are playing the odds that they won't have to draw, or that whatever time penalty they have to pay because they're not as familiar as possible with the gun they happen to be carrying won't make any difference if they do have to draw and shoot.
On the one hand, the "rotaters"...
There's a thread on m4carbine.net called "Looking for a flat, straight Glock trigger? Pull up a chair and come inside", where the poster reviewed a bunch of these triggers. I'd post a link, but for some reason I can't find it - not sure how I found it before.
Anyway, based largely on that...
I don't hunt anything bigger than grouse or rabbits, and long-range shooting doesn't appeal to me (I think it's just as challenging/satisfying to shoot standing at 25 yards as it is to shoot 200 or 300 yards off a rest).
I only "need" 4:
1. Glock 42 380 (concealed carry)
2. Ruger Blackhawk SA...
My G42 has been my EDC for almost 6 months now. It's too big for any of my pockets, but I can conceal it under a T-shirt in a BladeTech Klipt IWB holster. I added Taran Tactical +1 baseplates loaded w/ Hornady Critical Defense, replaced the front sight with an XS Big Dot and the rear sight with...
Mostly because I just like them. Even though I've never paid more than $700 for any gun, I don't own anything that's not well made, and I like to use them and keep them running right.
PPK/S: Heavy and I didn't shoot it very well.
Glock 26: Much better, but a little thick for IWB carry, which is how I normally carry.
Glock 42: Done! Yes, it's a 380, yes it holds only 7+1 rounds (with +1 mag), but I can ALWAYS carry it (I'm carrying it now), and it handles and shoots like a...
I've only owned about 15 guns and only bought one used: a 1976 New Model Ruger Blackhawk. This is the only gun I'd actually be able to sell for more than I paid, just because prices have gone up quite a bit. All my other guns are high quality and well-cared for but they aren't collectible, so...
I watched the first couple episodes of "The Bridge" series (the original that inspired the American version) that features Swedish and Danish detectives. In one episode, someone is apprehended at the Swedish PD office (If I remember correctly) and the uniformed cop that is backing up the...
Used to be 9mm (Glock 26), but that was replaced by 380 when I got a Glock 42 (real sights, full-size gun ergonomics, the least recoil I've felt in a centerfire cartridge, familiar operation, 7+1 capacity with Taran Tactical baseplate). I will probably only carry the G26 or G19 when I'm...
Having lived in California for 54 years, I believe that the reason it's practically impossible to get a carry license on the coast (with the exception of a few less-populated counties) is that the politicians that are in charge hate guns, hate gun owners and hate the NRA. And that's as deep as...
